I'm happy that the Marines now have a choice of boot according to weather conditions. When I was in the Marines, we all got issued the same leather boots. Sometimes they were not warm enough in late Fall/Winter. Then there was the added pain of being required to spit shine them for inspections so you had to buy one pair of boots for inspections only and keep them in your locker. The pay really sucked in the 1980's and the price of a pair of boots really cut into your budget.

I think $270 is a great value for this boot. Most boots at the $200 dollar range won't look half as good as these after 2 years of wear. I'm also more than happy to shill out an extra $50 or so for any quality product made in the USA! I'd like to personally thank the workers at Danner for all that they do. Providing a necessary and honorable service to our country. It is boots like these that keep our nation ticking, and our people safe. I never spend my money elsewhere. Also thank you for your service as well. Good review, subbed.

Good advice for OCS, maybe; however, for those going to USMC boot-camp as an uncommissioned rank, don't buy Marine Corps gear before boot-camp for two reasons! One, you will get your ass chewed up by drill instructors when they hear or find out that you have been wearing their gear before you have earned the right to! And, Two, you cannot bring them with you to boot-camp and keep them! Most recruiters will inspect what you are wearing when you get shipped out to MCRD and they will prohibit you from wearing United States Military logos and/or gear, if they are doing their jobs because it makes them look bad for allowing you to go to boot-camp, with military logos on, without having earned your right to wear Marine Corps logos and gear. And, never wear another military branches gear or logos because it is a metaphorical slap in the face to other branches of service by showing it off to them! Your Poolee shirt stays at home! When you get to boot-camp the drill instructors will give you everything you need and take everything else that you don't away from you! As for Officer Candidate School, do what your told and Marine Corpsman Danko knows the way!...Oorah!!

If only someone made a non-tactical version of these we would all be set. Compared to the alternatives there’s nothing that matches them, even at full retail price. I would legit drop 300 on these if they do. Anyone @ Danner 👀🤷🏼♀️🤙🏻🤙🏻

@@KahmannMan You only have to worry about stolen valor if you have the entire uniform head to toe and are intentionally portraying yourself as a veteran in order to get sympathy/charity/et al. Homeless people that never served in the army and were draft dodgers wear military uniforms all the time. Right now I'm wearing National Guard issue combat pants. I also have a barracks issue leisure tee as well. One trip to Goodwill and you can kit yourself head to toe in a full Afghanistan issue combat uniform for $10. I've also seen state police trooper uniforms at Salvation Army as well but due to federal law they cut the patches off or they are removed before donating them.

How do the Reckonings compare to the USMC Tropical Boot
@AndrewDanko
2 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna be honest, if it’s issued gear, the quality really just won’t be there. I’m not saying they provide ineffective equipment, but don’t expect it to be anything special. The reckonings are nice because they are light and versatile, which will help on any graded events or just PT in general in boots. The reckonings no joke will shave off time because of the weight difference versus the issued gear, and because they are breathable and flexible, they won’t feel like you’re wearing bricks on your feet (like the issued boots).

how long do they last?
@AndrewDanko
2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you do with them - if you just run and Ruck w them then they’ll last a long time but at OCS you’ll go through the water and mud in them so they’ll get pretty messed up, plus they have to stay looking sharp on the exterior when you’re in uniform, which they won’t if they’re constantly covered in mud!
@mikeyfoulke

As for regular wear throughout my time wearing them, they lasted about 2.5 years in the enlisted side before I replaced them with a pair of RATs

How do they hold up in long ruck marches?
@AndrewDanko
2 жыл бұрын
So far pretty well - this in mind, they are lightweight but you generally lose some support in exchange for lighter weight. If it’s a long ruck I’d probably wear these but on shorter rucks I may consider wearing a heavier pair that has strong ankle support, just to prevent injury. These are probably best for everyday wear and combat/running related evaluations like the CFT for example.

I feel like US military issued boots are dogshit in general. I‘ve never seen anyone get blisters in a modern hiking boot, no matter how much he rucked in them. You can blisters in Army, USMC, USAF etc. boots just after a small ruck.
