@@gsnicholas8522 I agree with you on the Black Hornet Ser Razor, it’s probably my all time favorite head. I’ll be running them and the new Single Bevel Buzzcut this year. QAD exodus are probably the most durable broadheads on the market, shoot well, penetration is top notch, and they are still affordable. I see no reason to switch to another fixed blade. Huge craze to run the Iron will style heads these days but the exodus leave a massive triangular hole leaving crazy blood trails.

I shot a doe with a QAD Exodus this past Saturday at 30 yards. Went through her, hit the tree behind her, and bounced back. Unfortunately, after 400 yards and over 7 hours of searching, I couldn't find her. They hit about two inches low of field points at 60 yards, which I attribute to drag. It wasn't the broadheads fault I didn't find that deer.

I agree with your line up completely! I prefer a 4-blade fixed over a 2 or 3 blade fixed. If I did try a 3-blade fixed, it would be the QAD Exodus. If I tried a mechanical, it would be the Grim Reaper. As I got older & dropped my poundage to 60 pounds, I decided to go with the Slick Trick Viper Tricks. I like the angle of the blades for penetration over the other Slick Tricks (although none are bad). A tiny Slick Trick 4-blade, 1" Standard has the same total cut (1" + 1" = 2") as a two-blade, 2" Swhacker, which still has 1" blades flying through the air. Slick Trick & QAD Exodus have short ferrules that match better with field points. If I end up shooting a crossbow some day, my plan is to explore the Grim Reaper line up. If I was starting over from scratch, I might have gone the Magnus route. I'm quite content with my Viper Tricks for my current set up, however. Slick Trick, Magnus, QAD, & Grim Reaper would get my money. This is coming from someone who shot 3-blade Muzzy broadheads for decades .

If you’re like a lower draw weight hunter consider fixed blade heads. Tried and true no failures to deploy whining. Like the Magnus Black Hornets or Slick Trick line. I’ve taken a lot of critters of many sizes with both at 62#’s, 28” DL. If you have your bow & arrow tuned together these heads will hit behind your pin easily to 80 yards +. Great advice here Nate! I love Schwacker. It's is the head that convinced me to go down the trail that lead to using fixed blades. 3 deer shot with them. One a gut shot, one a near perfect double lung not hitting shoulder (the only one I recovered) and another that may have hit shoulder. None of them passed through and none had a blood trail to speak of. I shoot plenty to get a pass through so when I didn't get one on the gut shot, I researched and landed on Magnus black hornet. I've been super sold on the results so far.

For TURKEY the Slick Trick Standard is the absolute best performer I’ve used. We can take four birds a year here and I’ve been using these heads on them for easily 20+ years. Thank you, Nate, for another interesting archery video. But seriously, aren’t we able to find better options? I’ve had Grim Reaper send me parts to help with a problem. Kudos to Grim Reaper!Another major mechanical brand seemed to not do so well for me. The deer was last seen biting the arrow out of its ribs on its way to the next county. I put part of an arrow and a Slick Trick clean through a whitetail after the arrow snapped when the broadhead hit the buck’s shoulder. The broadhead and 1/3 of the arrow went through the shoulder, both sides of the rib cage and exited the offside leg. The blades sheared off; but the buck piled up within thirty yards. I had the buck; and didn’t care that it had ruined a broadhead. I’ve had success with Magnus Stinger and Magnus Buzzcut. They performed marvelously; and I didn’t feel entitled to request replacements when the broadheads were damaged. They had fulfilled their purpose; although they had been damaged beyond repair. I just seem to be better off with my 200 grain single bevels with bleeders. They punch through the shoulders; and I have an intact broadhead. I just have to hone the single bevels and replace the bleeders. In the long run I save money; because the blade is reusable. Is shelling out the extra cost 💲 up front what stops most people from recommending and using them?

I like that Slick Magnum (2000), Standard (2005), and Xbow (2010) use the exact same ferrules. 1" Standard blades & 1 1/8" Magnum/Xbow blades are all interchangeable. A Standard is a Magnum with 1" blades. An Xbow is a Magnum put in an Xbow package. The Xbow did add a 150 grain option. If you shoot Standards & want to try Magnum or Xbow, buy a package of Magnum replacement blades & throw them in your ferrules. It's that simple!

Should have titled this the top 5 worse broadheads. BTW, if you're not concerned with penetration, you must be the greatest shot ever, to be able to miss all them ribs. And the many other bones of the body. No matter the animal, penetration is a must. Since it is a must, the only time a chisel tip or a mechanical broadhead should be considered as an option is why no cut on impact broadhead like a G5 Montex is not available. No chisel tip or mechanical will match a Montex.
