It will make a world of difference. It will be so much easier to load and unload a canoe. I have since sold my canoe and I now have several kayaks. I bought a Malone MicroSport kayak trailer. This is a pretty sweet setup also. Here is a link to that trailer video if you are interested: kzitem.info/news/bejne/s5yMua5mq2NiY44 I hope you enjoy your new Reese Towpower Canoe Loader.........Take care, Bluefin.

That's a pretty cool way to load. I kinda thought you would push the canoe through and onto the roof rack. I wasn't expecting you to walk around to the front, but I've never seen one used. Very nice. That should help a lot of people. We have kayaks i used to push on top of a van but finally bought a trailer instead. Thanks for sharing.

@@mustang774 yup it works just got one from princess auto in toronto canada $ 89 half the price on amazon it does leave my14 foot sports pal canoe more at the back of my element my hitch is long and i got one to give me a little more height i needed it for the element so it is not centered on car roof but the reese rack makes a third connecting point i will use a better strap on it. also some straps to take the play out of the reese loader. i also have some yakama canoe clamps it is kinda nice not having the canoe in the windshield. i used some high heat spray glue and clamped the protective strips till dry i think most don"t clean the metal first before attaching them thanks

@@danielbyrne5862 Good price. That is about what I paid for mine on Amazon a few years ago. The bungee cord strap is just used to hold the end of the canoe from slipping off the rack when you are loading it. I'm glad it is working out for you. It will make going canoeing more enjoyable now that it easier to load it on the car. I recently got a new car and it has a glass roof with a panoramic sunroof. My old roof rack would not fit and my wife wanted me to get a kayak / canoe trailer instead of loading on the roof. I will have a video about the trailer next month. I was very pleased with my canoe loader and it is a great option.......Take care, Bluefin.

How much heigher can it be extended? What I am thinking is to use it as a pole point to hang my hammock while camping if there an't suitable TWO trees or only ONE tree is available. Eh?

Very interesting but I have question if it rattles or vibrates when you drive on the freeway? If yes, how do you mitigate it? I think I will get one for may Coleman Scanoe.. 😊
@mustang774
4 жыл бұрын
Yes it will rattle a little when driving over bumps. It is not really bad at all. In my opinion it is much easier to load a canoe on the car with this and a rattle is a small price to pay for the benefit you get with this. If you have this rack a little higher than your roof rack the canoe will rest on the front rack of your vehicle and this t- rack . It will not rest on your rear roof rack. There is a rubber strip on the top bar of this. The rattle is not as bad. Hope this helps you.........Take care, Bluefin.

Where can I get that small metal piece you mentioned? I don’t think it comes with the purchase.
@mustang774
4 жыл бұрын
It comes with the kit. Well it did when I bought it. It is only necessary if you want to use the hitch ball to tow a trailer and still use the loader bar. I'm sure a metal shop could make one for you if needed. It has two holes to mount a ball hitch through. Use the second hole for the load bar if that makes sense........Take care, Bluefin.

Hey Bluefin, thanks for sharing! I wonder if I need to buy a ball mount to connect this setup?
@mustang774
5 жыл бұрын
With this model canoe loader you would need the tongue part of the hitch that slides into the receiver partoff the hitch. You don't actually need the ball part. There are truck bed extender t-bars similar to this that can be mounted a similar way into a 2" square receiver with no need for a tongue and ball.......Take care, Bluefin.

😄 I would too if I left the hitch on. As soon as I finish towing or using the T-bar I always remove the hitch extension and ball. Years ago on the first car I had a hitch on, It was not removable....I hit my shin on it and said the next one would be removable for certain.........Take care, Bluefin.
