I'm not vegan but I love vegan food. So happy to find this recipe because I'm tired of seeing the same stir fried tofu recipes with the same flavors or ingredients. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to make it :)

Aww, I love it when non-vegans venture out into trying vegan foods :) So happy you enjoyed the recipe, let me know how it turns out when you make it!

I like that you put the ingredients list first. But the camera is at a sorta strange angle. But will definitely give this recipe a try

Question did you add the ingredients on both sides when you were prepping the tofu?
@amdvAdriana
2 жыл бұрын
You can add half on each side, or add all to one side and just flip a couple of times while it marinates. I've done it both ways when rushing :)

How would you do this in the oven? I am trying to avoid oil or fried food.
@amdvAdriana
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosa, you can definitely make this in the oven but you won't get the charred look or taste. Although, you can try making it in a cast iron pan/griddle in the oven at high heat, it might work a little better than a basic sheet pan.

I'm sorry that happened, did you use a cast iron skillet? I find that non-stick won't give you the same blackened crispiness.
@Bailehumorytemas

@@amdvAdriana that's where I failed lol... I only have non stick. I'll try again, it took longer time to even get it to get a tiny crisp, then it fell off and i had naked tofu 🤣 but it tasted yummy 😋

Can i use shoyo instead of amino?
@amdvAdriana
3 жыл бұрын
You can but you will loose a little bit of the "meatiness" that aminos add to this dish. I would also use a lot less shoyu.
@monanyree

Could you bake this instead?
@amdvAdriana
2 жыл бұрын
Definitely, I've even had people tell me they used their air fryer. The only difference will be charring and crispiness, those two things depend on the kind of oven you are using :]

When did she add in the rest of the nutritional yeast?
@amdvAdriana
3 жыл бұрын
I added it when I flipped the tofu while marinating. Basically, I added the spices on one side, flipped it, added the rest of the nutritional yeast, and left it to marinate. Hope that makes sense :)

Can I skip the aminos and the yeast?
@amdvAdriana
3 жыл бұрын
The liquid aminos and yeast are honestly what creates that "meaty" flavor, so I highly discourage skipping them. They are the start of this dish for sure.

I can only find the cheese flavored nutritional yeast!
@amdvAdriana
3 жыл бұрын
They are all cheesy tasting to be honest. As long as it's just nutritional yeast with added vitamin B12, it should be great for this recipe :). Bragg's is my favorite brand. I have a link to it on the description box.

You can usually buy organic nutritional yeast in bulk at any health food store and most large grocery stores ( I'm in Fairbanks Ak and they have it here) also try not and but Bragg's if you can avoid it, people usually buy it( Bragg's products) because it's all they know, but stay away from them if you can.
