One thing I liked so much about playing games as a kid is how easy it was to get sucked into a new world I truely felt like my reality was transformed when playing games like pokemon and maple story. I don't get the feeling as much anymore probably because of all the responsibilities and general worries now.

I still come back to this game sometimes, but it'll never be the same. The friends I played with, the community this game fostered, it's all gone now. I log on to solo grind because it's just more convenient or efficient. The game is part of a dying style of video game, so I can't foster a new community with new friends because it's simply not within people's interests now. Even so, I can't thank this game enough for the memories it gave me and the music that brings me back to a happier time. I'll keep getting older, much like every other maple player, but Maplestory's soundtrack will stay with me forever. The animation community is dying, but I'll do it until I can't anymore. I hope everyone who played the game and made animations are doing well today, and I wish them well.

The game is and never will be the same again, but I'm glad we were able to share this experience and make memories the way we did. The community was truly the highlight of the game! I don't play the game anymore, yet I still come back to these soundtracks from time to time because they remind me of simpler times and are so comforting in that way. But, whoever and wherever you are, I'm proud that you and I are part of the same community and are connected, in a way, by having played this game. I'm really happy that we can look back and reminisce on all the good times we had playing this game :)) I hope you're doing well, cheers!

I think a lot of players come back from time to time when the itch inevitably strikes, whether it be to the main game or various private servers for a nostalgia hit. I heard someone call this game as it was back then "a glorified chat room," and to some extent that was true, but not in a bad way. It may have advanced the gameplay in many great, and arguably not so great ways, but the simple times when we all played without really knowing what the fastest way to level was, or what gear/skill builds we should be using, and just had fun exploring and chatting with online friends was unparalleled. It has such a powerful place in my memory and many others. Coming back to these songs bring me both immense joy that it happened, and also sadness that it's over as we knew it. You're right about this game being of a dying breed, and beyond that, we no longer have the free time we had back then. I am touched that other people share the same sentiment about Maplestory as part of their very fond memories. It's like a ghost of a community that everyone remembers fondly, misses terribly, and accepts that its time has passed. Happy mapling everyone, even if you don't play anymore.

I log in sometimes just to take a walk around the town, and to listen to the nostalgic music, but I lost my 2 main accounts from beta. I miss the good old community. I still remember the first thing I did whenever I log on was to say hi to my buddy list. I even miss the ks war, cc plz 😂. Has anyone still remember those F1…F7 expressions? I still keep in touch with a mapler and we still use those Fs expressions in our text lol.
@plainmilkie

Actually, saying stuff like F3 used to be such a big part of my friends' texts too! I became estranged from all of my maple friends in one way or another, but it was such a silly thing to do and I always miss the simple conversations I'd have. Logging in and getting a bunch of friends online saying "wb" was always quite welcoming and warm, and this still happened no matter if I was playing GMS or a private server. I thank everyone here for replying, seeing your replies come up made me feel super warm and nostalgic, and would always bring me back to this video to listen to the music. I wish there was some way we could've interacted when we were all playing, but that's probably just my desire to interact with a maple community again. I hope everyone is doing well!
That first Christmas song hit me. I still have a picture from over 15 years ago. Me and my buddies on the Christmas tree. Spelled out the name of our guild with the letters and would drop all our gear like ornaments :,)

I never really socialized on this game. My brother started playing when he was young, probably mid-2000s and I picked up where he left off late 2000s. I loved this game. I loved grinding my level 43 assassin on the clock guys under lubridium. What I wouldn't do to go back to that.

This game was at its peak back in 2004, but now it's not the same anymore. Nexon had a big updated called "The Bigbang" that added classes more than just the original 4 classes and revamped the game. Now, there are over 30 classes or something. The social aspect isn't there anymore for the community, which was what made the original Maplestory so great and many people had a great childhood growing up in that era because of that. Now you just blaze through leveling to lvl 200+ and you barely socialize with strangers anymore; whereas before the leveling took months and months to even reach lvl 30, so a lot of people just focused on making friends and the community was great because of that. A lot of us who grew up in that era and played when we were a kid are still friends with those people IRL, and some of those became some of our best friends for a lifetime. It's because of that experience that made this game very nostalgic for many of us who played back then during that time. But now we can never go back to that time, so it's just a treasure memory that we take with us as we keep growing older. It was also because we didn't have to worry about becoming an adult and worrying about paying bills, work, responsibility, complicated relationships, etc. We were just care free and wasn't really exposed to the corruption of society, so our mind was still innocent when we engaged with this type of community. All we had to do back then was just come home after school and couldn't wait to go on adventure with our friends in Maplestory and explore the mystery the game had to offer. There wasn't any stress or worry or any kind, you know? It was a childhood memory that we can never get back because everyone are either in college or are working now with their own family and responsibility, and they rarely have any time because becoming an adult blows. That's why you'll often see people say they miss the good old days and how they'll do anything to go back to those childhood memories in these comment sections, because it was probably the best time they ever had experienced that they can never go back to. There's obviously a lot more reason such as you going into a zone that you didn't know it was way over your character's level and you end up being stuck there and can't go back because the monsters in that area are so strong. Then you run into someone that helped you out and even give you meso (money currency in Maplestory) to let you take taxi and go back to the beginner's area. It's moments like those that will stay with you for a lifetime, and you still wonder every now and then what happened to those people who have helped you out back then. It's because of moments like those that made people loved Maplestory during that era, because it's what made the community so great and paved the foundation for the game itself at the time.

@@duskshadow25 I love that description, personally for my teen year maple gave me reason to wake up when IRL I felt like an outcast, I loved helping Lower levels and get advice for stronger and older ppl , all I did was wake up go to school and think about what I’ll do today in maplestory , it was that great , also I met my best friends through sharing experiences of maplestory even though we didn’t play together so it transcends beyond just the people who play together to every person who played yet and took in the culture aspect and sharing the stories and memories makes me cry every time cuz it’s was the prime of excitement for me and the emotional support I needed when nobody understood me, and now my newborn baby is sleeping to this playlist , I know she has my genes now… happy dad moment !
