I think a 450 great for trails, climbing hills, sand dunes etc. But on the track it’s probably a little much for most weekends warriors. It’s easier to go fast when you don’t have to be responsible with the 450 power.

I ride both mx and woods and personally the last bike I would ever want in the woods is a 450 especially in the tight stuff it wants to stall out easy and it makes you 1000 times more tired and it like to overheat very easily a 125 it’s almost easier to ride in the woods then a 450

Great vid rado! I think for pure MX then a 250f or 350f is plenty for 90% of people out there. Me personally i do 70% riding at home in my yard and trails and 30% at my local mx track. So for me personally a 250f wasn’t quite power in my yard for me. But taking a 450 to the track is hard to handle for me but i still enjoy it alot. I also had a hard time pulling the trigger on a 250f because of maintenance cost. I heard the 250f’s dont last as long and need rebuilt alot more often and im personally not a rich guy so going as long as i can safely before engine rebuilds was important for me. I really thought that a 450 would allow me to ride less aggressive and be more lazy. I thought I would be able to ride more laps without getting exhausted. I discovered that is not the case at all. The 450 feels way heavier even though on the scale it's within 5 pounds of a 250f. I can only ride about half as many laps that I can on my 250 4t. For that reason alone, a 450 is too much bike. The newer 250f's have the power to clear any jump I'm willing to do also. In my opinion, the only place a 450 might be better would be free riding in sand dunes. Anywhere else a 450 is not going to make anything better, easier or faster.✌️ Thanks for the great content

You make some great points here, the only point I might mention is being safe and faster, maybe say being more proficient leads to being safer in this inherently risky sport? And for some guys the 450 especially offroad will save you in some cases where you might lack clutch control, or are heavier 220+ and a 125 or 250f is going to lack the bottom end to climb something without really attacking the obstacles. But on the track I agree 100%

One of my riding buddies has the 125x and your comments also apply to woods riding. For beginners (at any age) there's a lot of techniques that are hard to learn no matter what bike you're on, trying it on a bike with too much power (for your skill level) will hurt progression. I'm on the waiting list for a 125x thanks to your videos and excited to really start learning. I bought a TTR230 last year to start riding with my sons, but now I'm eager to upgrade to something a little more advanced. I ride mainly on trails, but I'd like to start riding tracks as well. I've been debating between a YZ250F and a YZ125X...two entirely different bikes, I know. I love the idea of a two stroke...the simplicity, the sound, the power curve...everything about it. But I feel as though a 250 might be a better choice, particularly for the more consistent power delivery and ability to "lug" it around as I become more proficient on the track. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!!!

Most people think that getting a 450 is like moving up a class, which it is in the power department, like getting a 125 from an 85, more power and a different size, but in all reality, it is only something you should move up to if you are feeling you actually need more power and the bike is what is limiting you not your skill, I have an easy time blasting out of corners on a 450 with all of the torque but am slower on a 250, not because the I need the 450 but because I need more power

hmmm... I am about the same, 10lbs lighter and I was doing ok on stock 125x but it would help to get it done tho. I am sure they come stock for much lighter guys. as long as you land where you should you probably wont feel much but when you come short or OJ the jumps you will want to have more suspension..

I personally find the 2-stroke powerbands more unwieldy. Maybe not as much power/torque, but they can often suddenly want to tear out of your hands when they hit their powerbands. I'd not get a 250 2-stroke as a beginner bike unless you're an enormous person.

roughly 1000 - 2000 depends what you want to do, sometimes you can get away with stick ECU and dont need to get mapped Vortex. On our 2020 YZ250FX we just installed the kit and the hot cams and it ran great, kept the ECU stock

It just seems strange that enthusiasts would want less dirtbikes. Or less dirtbike. I say advocate for more training and less of something unhealthy. And...you do have a big channel. I dont know what the numbers are but youtube recommends it. I like the content too. But we disagree on this one. I mean, you can say anything you want. It’s your platform.

@@jackrussell9744 thanks for sharing, I've seen the one by Ryno. Why would you think I advocate for less dirtbikes? I never said that, entire channel is based on the passion and love for the dirt bikes. I share what I experience. I think having proper bike would help you to build the skills and eventually stay safer and ride more. Check some other comments, people are having same conclusion and some of them went thru the same phase of 450 as I did. @@dirtniron Well, because sales of different models is the only thing that keeps them in production. If 450 sales drop, companies will stop making them. If they aren’t produced, they wont be raced. And....just because a model goes away doesn’t guarantee that it will be replaced by more of some other model or a new/better replacement.

Fake news 450s are great machines even for a casual woods/trail rider. They have plenty of bottom end and the engines last a long time since you dont have to run as many revs . As far as the weight difference it is very little. If 450 doesnt work for you then thats fine but you said yourself you haven't been riding dirtbikes that long and you dont even race so your still more so a student.

I was talking about MX riding only, its in the title of the video and I said it many times in the video as well, and yes I am fresh in the sport as I said in the video.. check out what former pros have to say about 450: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0H-E14mdnXRnfpg
@Wide000
3 жыл бұрын
I have been riding for decades and I can assure you that there is no ''fake news'' here. Being able to ride a 450, like most riders in fact, does not mean that this is the most appropriate all around bike. On a track, as said by former pro rider like Ryan Hughes and many others, a 450 is too much for almost all riders. Not that we can't ride them, being too scared or anything like that, just that they are not the best amateur bikes for different reasons. I Have a big smile each time I am on a 450, loving that low end monster power, but I am not any faster with them than I am on a smaller bike. And the weight difference, even if it seems small, and also the bigger crankshaft, have a huge impact on the overall feeling and handling. I have a 450 and a 350 and can tell you that the 350 is much easier and nimble, while being very fast. The limit is the rider, not the bike. Tony Cairoli won a few world championships on a 350 against 450's...
