1:45 in the Middle East we say "Eating with a fork and spoon is like making love to your food through a translator".. that’s absurd I never heard this. We at the Middle East have a high respect to food "Blessing food", if a Small piece of bread fall on the floor we pick it up and above ones head to show respect

Hi there spyman6! You are absolutely right -- in the Middle East, there is a huge amount of respect for food and the bread anecdote is a wonderful one that you've shared. The quote on 'fork and spoon' has however, nothing to do with respect for food. It is about the enjoyment of eating food directly with ones hands rather than using cutlery, which is often the case with many (not all) traditional foods of the region. In this specific case, it's a way of inviting the host to enjoy her falafels with her hands rather than using a fork/knife!
