If this is anything like the Michele Thomas Method then it's probably great. The Michele Thomas Method cut my learning time down by about 7 years. The book Madrigal's Magic Key to Spanish teaches English to Spanish conversion methods also helped me immensely. It categorizes words into 5 different groups depending on the word ending and teaches you how to convert the word.

it really isn't. michel thomas taught via the socratic method yes but he did no cognitive load management no linguistic analysis he got annoyed when students weren't learning well despite the fact "the burden of your learning is me". all in all it's basically just taking constructivist teaching (Which is far from unique to michel thomas) and using that. lol

Interesting method! I can see, how this works with English/Spanisch or English/German, but how about completely unrelated languages? It is really interesting that he also has Arabic and Turkish - what a polyglot! So I checked out Turkish. You cannot tap into similarities - because there are none. But what he does here is taking something that the student knows and combining it with new elements. What I like about it is that it must be quite encouraging to be able to reuse what you already learnt. (Once I get to the point where I want to study Arabic, I will try his classes.) “Why don’t they teach it this way at school?” Because it is such a cognitive approach: great for understanding the structure but doesn’t help a lot with how to use the language in situations. Modern language classes are usually focussing on an approach that fosters communicative competence (at least in Europe). But personally I am sure that understanding more about structure and language comparison can also be helpful - as long as it is combined with a more communicative approach. Like you said: use it along with other sources. So when your video started with crossing out the logos of other apps, I thought this was overdoing it a bit. Babbel for one is an incredible app - probably the best course I ever took. It’s not free, but reasonable. I will definitely watch more of your videos: fun and instructive!

i've always wanted to learn spanish, and so i do what i can in my spare time when i feel like it. I once downloaded LT and seen that it wasn't like those normal language apps--bc it was audio-- and i deleted it. then i came across another recommendation of LT , so i decided to give it a try. I started it in mid April, and i LOVED that i understood so much in just like 5 lessons.. this summer i'll be working and dedicating my time to learning more spanish , im around lesson 17 now, and i love how it's straight forward to the point , bc i was struggling to understand like the "lo quiero" , "te quiero" placement. It makes so much more sense to me. i'm glad the spanish course has over 90 lessons , i hope by the end my spanish will gradually have improved. but also , that in a couple of years my fluency in spanish will excel and one day i'll be able to say im trilingual :D

For those of you that love this learning method. If you're learning a language thats not on the LT list, Michel Thomas and Paul Noble use the exact same structure. This learning method originally came from the Michel Thomas programs. If you're spacifically looking for Chinese, KZitem the Medlock Method. It's the same structure except it adds reading to it. If you're learning Japanese, KZitem Michel Thomas Japanese. That course happens to be fully available for free.

@@user-gr7oe7do5e Yes. I am still learning English. I literally had to memorise it. Every time I type or write a word I "dictate" in my mind (and in my own language) letter by letter, the entire word. It is a process which is now taking place mostly in the background, but it is still there. And yes, I understand what you mean when you talk about the fact that English doesn't even have a concept of certain things that are particular to Spanish. The same happens when I need to translate from Romanian to English and I need to explain. (And yeah, I am the product of the old school, when you just had to learn!) The two languages are so different that sometimes it's simply impossible to "translate" a grammar error or even a joke (humour being many times based on characteristics of the language). I have to do "acrobatics" in order to at least translate the idea itself. Anyway, it's always an interesting experiment.

I have been trying to study Spanish for years, but truly language transfer was the most useful and helpful app ever. I stopped studing spanish for almost 2 years and the first thing i started to do is to continue the course on language transfer again. I was able to write sentences only after 5 or 6 lessons. I also would recommend spanish butterfly KZitem channel to help with pronunciation.

Im greek and i find people who wish to study my language worth of respect! It's one of the hardest languages out there (and let's be honest, somewhat useless) combining both modern and ancient greek. I would be glad to help you if you have any questions.

I think learning from different language apps is like learning from different people. People are different and how you learn can be different from others so if you try multiple apps, you might learn in multiple different ways which I think is great cause your brain might adapt to different ways of learning and doesn’t limit it. Also trying to learn by yourself (self taught) is good, people tell others they’re learning wrong but we all learn in different ways. If you think it’ll work, try it. Just don’t give up. And one of the keys to learning a language is to put a lot of time into it. Not just 5 minutes a day. An hour a day is probably minimum. Try to surround yourself in that language and listen to podcasts or music throughout the day.

Absolutely. I always hear bad things about Duolingo, but I love Duolingo and it has benefited me significantly.
