I’ve read this book! Fascinating indeed. I think we need to realize that our “emotions” are just chemical reactions...just like what the trees do!

In fact, we tend to think of ourselves and other things as either being alive or not alive, but really, we are just collection of highly complex chemical reactions, that are the culmination of a series of other highly complex chemical reactions going far back into the past.

You're welcome, Rich. I often think about this book as I garden near trees.

Great review, just ordered the book :) Fun fact: the author's surname translates to "Good Life" (or "living well")

What an amazing book that has opened my mind to forests and trees. One of the things that stands in my memory is the lack of relationship between trees that have been planted. Essentially, he creates a distinction between a plantation and a forest - planted trees don't join the fungal network and each one is alone in the plantation.

I know Stefano and have done a few workshops to prepare for his lectures. Stefano is an amazing questioner. I have not met Peter but hope to do so. Both are great comunicators. There is one more researcher I would add and that is Francis Schwarze, his work on fungi and trees is amazing. Thank you for your book review
