Great review. It might have been me that recommended the evolution to you, I've been using it for a few years now and it's simply the best. I sorted that slow tilt forward over corregations by tieing an elastic cord to the rear. Works perfectly and it won't allow the tablet to tilt any further than you want. I'm the same as you and only pivot the mount for reversing. I can't speak highly enough of the product.

Hooray and many thanks Steffan, I have been procrastinating and looking high and low for an alternative option for the Quad Lock primarily for the reasons that you have mentioned in this video. In the outback mine has fallen off the windscreen a few times, but perhaps the bigger issue has been that because the case is black it heats up in the sun and the iPhone shuts down, and on hot day I have had this too many times to count. So that means moving it to a location that is out of the direct sunlight. Loooking at the industrial evolution solution got me thinking as to whether I can mount the phone and also my Garmin Overlander which is a bit more chunky than an iPad. So I will contact these guys and see if they have an option to mount both units onto their base, in some fashion. Thanks again for your thoroughness and I'll pass on when I get a suitable result. Keep up the great work.

interesting I also would be interested to have a second phone mount of the same bracket that would be perfect.

@@AlloffroadAu - Good morning Stefan, so following this episode I went ahead and purchased the mount for my 200 I have some pictures which I will attach once I have worked out how to do that, alternatively I can email them to you. So I installed the Industrial Evolution mount plus the other bracket that they supplied which I modified to hold a QuadLock mount on it to hold the phone which sits on the right hand side of the IE mount. I had to shape and bend the bracket to suit the position I wanted it in so that I still have clear access to all the buttons. It also holds the phone in front of the vent which is important, as the QuadLock in its case overheats and the phone stops when mounted on the windscreen. Most importantly the bracket gets the devices off the windscreen and there is now no longer any visual obstructions, but both the Garmin and phone are very easy to access. The only thing that I will look further to do at some point is to tidy up the cables in some way.

The quad lock mag ring is pretty great you don't have to push to place the phone and you can just attach your phone to metal surfaces.

yea, it's nearly winter now and I think it depends on how well it is initially applied but eventually, they will all come loose from my experience at least. The new magnet system was not available at the time unfortunately that looks good though.

I had anticipated that the Grenadier would be the ideal 4X4 until I saw your podcast which begs the question what would be the ideal 4X4? I therefore challenge you and your subscribers to conceptualise the ideal 4X4 for Australia from the ground up. And kudos on your channel … very helpful!

Independent off road centred long travel suspension, 1t load capacity, front and rear TJM or ARB locker, minimum 33” tyre option, easy modifiability for extended fuel tanks decent ground clearance and sufficient space between floor and frame so no low hanging fuel tanks etc. would be a few things I like to see

I have the quad lock windscreen mount for over a year here in Brisbane. It can fall off in the heat but I’ve learned to clean the glass and wash the cup . Reapply during the heat of the day and it stays on longer .

I currently use the QuadLock, it does not live up to the claims Quadlock makes, its falls off both when used for Bitumen roads and dirt roads. As I live in the North of Australia this could be related to heat, but the bottom line is that it falls off every week or so. So I am looking for a replacement system

Might want to check quadlock range again... they have 4x4 mounts now. Can get the head and attached to the ram gear that what I did. As the window was only option at the time. I agree the window mount is complete junk... any heat and it falls off.

I still like the RAM mount stuff myself. Your video got me wondering if I can design a vehicle specific RAM mount to save windscreen mounts or drilling holes….I’ll try it on my GU, and would be happy to adapt if it works out.

I think wireless charging in the Quadlock case is an iphone issue. I have a iphone for work and a personal Samsung phone. The Samsung in the Quadlock case charges on any wireless chager and the iphone does not. I use a a bike mount with a ball mounted to the dash, no windscreen suction mount needed.

You seem to be reviewing older Quad Lock systems, as the new versions are magnetic, have a flat back on the case and have a range of vent mounts. I have found them to be top quality.

My wife and I have a Quadlock windscreen mount and phone covers. Never had the phone fall off but we also keep the car in an enclosed garage which may be making the difference. Quadlock case does work with some aftermarket wireless chargers and I use an aftermarket wireless charger every day at work without issues. Do you still use your Quadlock for video recording while driving which you mentioned initially then in closing saying no longer use. Keep up the great work.

Unfortunately, my Anker wireless chargers did not work with the case. In winter we also had no issue with cases falling off but after we moved the mount and it's gotten hotter fell off too often. I still have the gear and maybe find an application for the Quadlock stuff.

This bloke thinks he knows everything. Why does my Quadlock work in the heat and his doesn’t. Maybe you are doing something wrong? They must have stopped paying him for advertising. He was supporting ExploreOz gps for ages, but I guess they dropped him because now there is “better” stuff He only rates the stuff who is paying him at the time. You watch, Helinox chairs will be rubbish next year
@AlloffroadAu

lol, no company ever paid me for advertising or reviews, but don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. I supported ExplorOz as long as it worked. Unfortunately, with software that can change quickly and over the past year, I had multiple incidents where ExplorOz let me down big time (maybe I make a dedicated video about that). I'm sorry that you are upset if I change my opinion if my experience with a product changes, but I can only tell you the truth. Seems like you have a vested interest in EOT if you get so defensive over someone else documented experiences?. If you think the mounts falling off in high heat is only my experience maybe have a look at the many Quadlock reviews stating the same, but as I said not limited to Quadlock, same with ram mounts or any suction-based mount it's unless it has a pump like Seasucker. BTW still like and use my Helinox gear.
