I did it!! I sold the previous curriculum we were planning to use and bought this one. This curious Kinder program is so good! Y’all really did an amazing job, this is exactly what I was looking for but couldn’t find. I was having to piece together different things, but now I have it all in one place. I feel really good about this decision. I feel so at peace knowing all of the things my child will be learning/enjoying. With him being 5 and a late birthday and gifted it was like everything was either too much too soon, or not challenging or engaging enough. The literature pics are A+ & the activities are so different, creative and engaging.

I absolutely LOVE this. The Bible component with the sequencing cards really fills in the gaps of the Gentle Classical Primer Program that focuses on narration of the storybook, but lacks resources to help you with narration of the Bible. The summary statements are spot on too to help with the main idea for each reading. I am a small channel so it probably wouldn’t help you so much yet, lol, but would love to highlight this curriculum at some point as a really good Kinder curriculum option ❤️

I just bought this and I’m so excited! I have a gifted kindergartener and upcoming preschooler and I think this curriculum may be a great fit for my daughter next year but we are NOT waiting. We are going to use it this year as a resource and guide this year, which I highly recommend, since it is so reasonably priced. The Bible focus, the Messner books (which we own already, brilliant) and the Elephant and Piggie social emotional learning are what we are most excited about and I’m pretty sure my almost five and almost three year old will be able to do most of those subjects together with some extensions for my rising gifted kindergardener. Rachel, you really should make a 10 second recorded blurb and stick it in every video mentioning your homeschool curriculums. Happy to give you a review once we get started (it may be from my husband we tag team hormschool and working from home different hours)!

I'm so, so happy to hear this! And that's a good idea with coming up with a concise clip to stick into other videos--all too often I hear from followers who say they never realized that I write curriculum, and then I realize that my promotion/advertising skills are in need of sharpening. I will for sure appreciate reviews when the time comes!

Congratulations! Really interested in using this for my kids when they are ready (they are all under 5 at the moment). I was wondering, can the Bible component be adapted to a different children’s Bible?
@SevenInAll
Ай бұрын
Yes, I think it would be pretty easy to adapt and use a children's Bible of your choice--we make it clear in the Teacher's Guide and from the event sequencing cards which story is the focus for the week, the goal is learning one key event from OT history each week and working toward the child being able to tell the story in their own words.

Rachel, this is such a phenomenal resource for Kindergarten!! The book list is superb. I appreciate that you didn't just pick the usual Kinder lit books most K literature curriculums choose, but then again, I wouldn't expect that from you. :) There are many titles I am not familiar with and I look forward to reading them with my boys although I think they are past doing a Kinder curriculum at this point. But I can tell this is a high quality very thorough Kinder curriculum and those with Kindergarten students are BLESSED to have this as their curriculum. This is a testimony also to the fact that we can do anything we put our minds to as long as we have the ability to prioritize our time and the discipline to make it happen since you put this together while having a newborn! Beautiful work, Rachel, your mom and your artistic sister! Edited to add: I went ahead and purchased this because #1) I wanted to support your work, 2) I am intrigued by the literature and want to incorporate many of these titles into our read alouds this year. I figured it would be fun to have the activity pages too, #3) I LOVED those Bible cards and could see using them as well with my sons and 4) if I get the opportunity to help in homeschooling my nephew and niece this would be my top choice for Kinder curriculum for sure. Never too early to start planning, right? (They are currently 20 months & 4 months old. hehehe) Thanks again for this fantastic resource to add to my curriculum collections. :)

Gotta be thankful to that newborn for all those 4 am feeds that left me feeling like I couldn't go back to sleep...plus the person who asked for the "next level" of Purely Preschool and it finally clicked and I figured out what that ought to look like. And yes, I appreciate that you noticed I didn't just pick all the "usual suspects" for the booklist. We have a few classics - Charlotte's Web, Roxaboxen, Owl Moon....but largely I went "outside the box" and sought to create a "survey of children's literature," introducing a variety of styles from a variety of authors and illustrators, many of whom are names well worth looking out for on bookshelves. Glad you loved the Bible cards--those were my mom's idea: sequencing is such a common activity to help kids get a good understanding of the flow of the story, and it's very helpful when it comes to really understanding the "big story" of the Old Testament. 20 months and 4 months might be a tiny bit too early to plan but hey, who am I to talk, I have a 6 month old and look forward to using this with him!

@@SevenInAll after purchasing and printing the teacher guide, I am even more impressed!!!! My goal for this school year is to be very literature heavy (even more so than we have been) with all my children, so the Curious Kinder definitely fits the bill as a resource to use that will help me meet this goal. I think I can easily fit the Bible, picture books, chapter books and the social emotional learning books into morning basket reading time with the boys when the girls won’t be able to join us for various reasons (like the day they are at CC community day). As I was reading the social emotional sections I realized my boys could benefit from these lessons. Also, we love Elephant & Piggy. In fact I will have to rebuy these books because when we had them for my younger daughter years ago they were read so much they fell apart! I am so thrilled with these book titles as I know they are trusted titles because you picked them and the vast majority are new titles to me. You’ve done the hard work for me in compiling this book list/curriculum- THANK YOU!!! This reminds me somewhat of Gentle & Classical curriculum, which did not really work well for my boys. However, the Curious Kinder is set up in a way that jives with my brain and I absolutely LOVE IT. Everything is organized incredibly well, it’s user friendly where I won’t be flipping back and forth to access & reference pages while teaching/reading. And- I appreciate the formatting 😂. If the pages didn’t line up exactly you inserted some beautiful art so the first over view page of the week is always in the same spot followed by the next two pages opening beautifully on the following two pages so you can see everything together. I really appreciate that! It helps me stay organized. Rachel, this is PHENOMENAL!! Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

@@faithfullyinfertile I'm so glad that you noticed these details. I would really love to get some reviews on my website--the website sends an automatic review request email two weeks after your purchase. If you have a few minutes to spare when that comes, if you fill out the form in that email to leave a review, having a few reviews on my site is so helpful when new customers are browsing! I'm glad you noticed the purpose for the 'random' art in the TG--it's all to help make sure the schedule page stays on the same side, plus adds a little bit of on-theme eye candy. My goal is always to make things very user-friendly and consistent, so that we aren't using too much of that precious brain power trying to look for things or figure out what's needed. And I am especially glad that I went for the somewhat unconventional approach of scheduling the entirety of Elephant and Piggie into the year. They are such fun books, but truly offer great opportunities to discuss emotions and different relational situations with our kids. Gems!

I don't plan to release this in Spanish at this point, but thanks for asking, because I do keep Spanish resources in mind. This one feels a bit too long and too complicated to do a completely new Spanish version. Many of the books scheduled in the program are available in Spanish, I should probably try to find out how many of them are: all of the Elephant and Piggie series, the Kobi Yamada series, as well as a fair number of other picture book and chapter book titles. The Bible portion is mainly contained in that top row of "Bible", not interwoven into all the activities. There is also a Bible reference or two connected to the literature when it happened to already be a part of the book itself: i.e. There's a hilarious book about manners and interacting with others (who happen to be otters in the book) called "Do Unto Otters" - so we reference the Bible verse where the phrase "Do Unto Others" comes from.

I’m so excited for this for my 4 year old son who will be turning 5 in October. My daughter is turning 3 in August and I was wondering if she is the right age to start with alongside my son. She is still learning all of her sounds and hopefully will have them perfected by the end of the summer and I will then start her with some simple phonics instructions. My goal is to start their new curriculum at the “beginning of the school year” in August.
@SevenInAll

This resource is definitely NOT dependent on being at a particular level of phonics/reading skill. Children are not expected to be able to read/write on the activity pages, and I have reminders of that throughout the Parent Guide--if the activity is "making a list" related to the book, the idea is that the children are brainstorming the list together with you, and the parent is actually writing down the list. So reading/writing skills are not required, however, if I child is a little bit older/more advanced they could do more reading/writing. I definitely think it could be used with a combined age group, although with a younger sibling, depending on their attention span/comprehension skills they may not get as much out of listening to the stories as the older sibling does--and that's perfectly fine and expected. I would probably add in some shorter/simpler reads just for the 3 year old, too.
