The biggest advantage of the dual AD200's versus a single AD400Pro is that you have two lights (or 400ws) when you need it, or 2 lights when you don't. Plus I think the AD200 (when using a single light) can go lower than the AD400Pro can (I believe both go to 1/128 or 1/256 power) but the power output is different because of the difference in maximum flash output. So for about the same price, dual AD200's plus the bracket does give you more flexibility and lets you build your kit as you go, if you already own a single AD200, then buying another light and the bracket is only another $400 or so, versus a new light for $650. That being said, setting up the AD400Pro can probably be done slightly faster since you're only dealing with a single unit, and a single receiver versus dual AD200's, where it is possible that one may not fire for whatever reason thus giving you uneven or lower power lighting than expected. This is not common, from what I've read of people who use dual AD200's but something to consider. It also may take the AD200's a bit longer to recycle than a single AD400Pro.

All great points to factor in for sure! Personally since I have an ad200 I would buy another one to get the 400 ws ive used several setups with both configurations and for modularity like the ideas of two ad200s. Thanks for adding value to the comments and giving folks something else to think about!

I have a pair of AD200s and will skip the AD400 and get the AD600Pro, that way, at any point I can have 200, 400, or 600 watts of lighting power. I like the flexibility of two lights for events like weddings, parties, etc., and as mentioned the battery efficiency of the AD200s is great and their color consistency is another great feature…

Great video bro. The ad200 was a game changer for lighting. It was the best portable option I had when compared to my ad360. Unless I need lower power I almost always bring out my ad600 just to have that extra power if needed. The 400 would be my strobe of choice if I didn’t already have the 600 tho.

I’m so confused man. I’m trying to 1st use one system and 2. Downsize for all purpose shooting. I have 2 600w Neewer strobes. A ad200 and a 860ii. I want to go with just a godox system setup but idk what route between getting a ad200 with a adb2 to combine with the one I have. Or. To just get a ad400 and pair it with the ad200. I want a strong modeling lamp as well as portability. Not to big on hss as I use a nd filter. Mainly looking for. A good strobe with a strong modeling lamp that could be used for continuous light shoots

With the adb2 you get 2x20watt LED modeling lamp and with the ad400 you get a 30watt modeling lamp so you'd get more out of the adb2 setup if your more focused on that light source.

I have had great luck buying used gear from FM. I got two (2) Godox AD600BM strobes plus a lot of accessories for $700. I also grabbed a couple of AD200s (not the pro models) for $350. The only new lights I've bought are a Godox v1, AD200 pro (before I got the used AD200s) and a couple of 860IIs

I say if you are just dipping a toe in get a cheap speed light and a soft box. But if you really are committed get two of whatever flash you can with your budget and use case constraints for size and weight of course. Two lights always gives you more options than one light. Than when you can afford more lights and if you feel like you need more power, double your watt seconds don't nickel and dime it. So if you have AD300 pros, go to the 600 pro, if you have AD200 pros, go up to the ad400 pro. That said I really don't think anyone should be choosing between the 300pro and 400pro. First decide if you need your lights to be small and lightweight for on location stuff. If you do than you are choosing between the 200 and 300 pros. If you don't than go 400 pro or 600 pro if you need the punch. So the only decision is really 200 or 300 pro. The main advantage of the 300 pro is the Godox mount which gives you much more compact modifiers without needing extra brackets. You can just bring the 300 pro and and S85 soft box which collapses way smaller than Bowens mount stuff. Its a simpler, small setup than and AD200 pro, plus bracket, plus likely more bulky soft box and than having to assemble it all. The 300 pro also has some features like masking and faster recycle times that might sway someones decision too. But the 200 pro has head options including a bare bulb and the ability to put two in one soft box to make a 400ws light. But again on location you have to cobble that together. So it comes down to individual choice based on what tradeoffs work best for you.
