@@thebluemorpho6640I guarantee you that Dom told Durning to flip his hat around sideways and slip back into it in that right face military move! 🤣🤣🤣

Charles Durning did though guys roles in the 70's. This was outstanding. I also remember that scene in Oh Brother Where Are Thou, when he steps into the stage giving funny jumps. He was much older, but still a scene stealer

Most are surprised at how well Charles can move, esp being a heavy set man. But one of his first jobs, before he made a name for himself as an actor, was as a dance instructor!

Charles Durning had a great supporting role in Tootsie the same year. Either one was Oscar worthy. What's really amazing is that Durning was born and raised in New York but you wouldn't know it from this!

I've never seen this movie, but I've done the show - the costume designer was in charge of Dolly Parton's wardrobe at DOLLYWOOD. Also, when I worked on the Universal Hollywood backlot, I spent a lot of time at the Chicken Ranch set from the film. Charles Durning is great in this scene.

I guess he worked as a dancing teacher before he became a top actor. You can see the grace in the man. Amazing life story.

You are correct he was a professional ballroom dancer and he taught at Fred Astaire’s dance studio and the funny thing is the filmmakers actually did NOT know that he can dance like that
