For real! I’m looking to upgrade from my Panasonic G7 Micro 4/3rd and want a nice all around full frame mirrorless in the 2k-2.5k range. I’m leaning towards a Sony a7iii right now but interested in several others! There’s several good options! And I’m also thinking of maybe going a bit cheaper to then pick up some good glass right away too.

Unless you have a an unlimited budget then you should buy the overall ecosystem, not the specific camera. One mirrorless mount has a wide selection of excellent third party lenses that use the official mount protocols because the maker has decided to make licensing easy and cheap. The others are stuck in the old ways and actively fight against the 3rd party makers. For me this means there is only one mirrorless option: Sony. Hopefully that will change in the future but I'm not holding my breath.

One thing you left out was the availability of lenses for each of these systems and the cost of those lenses. Both native lenses and third party lenses. It should be a key consideration for anyone buying a camera who doesn't already have a bunch of glass.

The oversimplified description of the difference between sensor sizes could greatly mislead the uninformed. Describing full frame as "harder to focus" makes it sound like that's a fundamental limitation of full frame. In reality, of course, you can simply stop-down the aperture on full-frame to get the deeper depth of field that would match crop sensor sizes

I have a doubt. Does he ever tested even one of these cameras he is talking about, has he ever used one of them? I see too many wrong statements that have been fixed with firmware updates months ago, or came from wrong early reviews. It's like he took notes watching a few old and wrong reviews to just have a bit of content to make a video. I understand that reviews gets a lot of clicks and money, but the average quality is really low on KZitem.

FF Does not offer the best image quality..... When will you reviewers get over this?? Stop brainwashing people into this lie. It's not 2005 anymore... Larger sensors allow the possibility of better image quality, but they in no way guarantee it... Are the photos of an 6D better than the ones of a XT4... I have both and the image quality of the XT4 APSC is IMO way better... just sayin´ : )
@Fisustin

Would have been cool to have also the Fujifilm X-S10 included. Roughly half the price of the X-T4 yet with exact same sensor, same processor (so same image quality), similar flip out screen and also sensor image stabilization while being more compact and having a MUCH better grip. Main disadvantages would be being able to internally record only 8 bit video (instead of 10), smaller battery (same one as used in X-T3 and previous models) as well as somewhat lower resolution display and viewfinder. And Fujifilm purists might dislike it for having a PASM-style dial instead of the dedicated dials.

You criticise the X-T3 for only a tilt display but failed to mention it's an advantage if you're mostly a stills shooter. I have to question a lot of what is said in this video actually. You also say the A7RIV is not good for low light but tests show it's actually very good. It has a higher pixel density but it's a very modern BSI sensor. Perhaps hire someone who knows something about cameras? Rather than someone that reads stat sheets?

Also a GX9 (20MP-MFT) with 12-32 kits lens AND grip extension AND battery for $345. Both with low shutter counts and in EXC++++ condition. Both with IBIS. Both with up to 4K-30fps. Perfect for my needs, these camera prices were an absolute steal...and I owe it all to the talking heads pushing the latest/new products. Sure, if you need FAST auto-focus, get a Sony or Canon. An important & often overlooked - this video included - aspect is the ' usability ' of the camera. I find Sony is the worst with it's ponderous menu system, no flip out monitor & no ' ese-of-use ' touch interface '. Panasonic has these all 3 of these features as well as a customizable ' Quick Menu ' & lots of customizable function buttons - both soft & hard. I call it the ' fun to use ' factor and my Panasonic G9 has it ! I don't care how good a cameras sensor is if the rest of the camera is a pain to use.

Sony has fixed their menu design issues, thankfully. The new menu has migrated down to the A7iv, it's just the APS-C bodies that need refreshing now. "the down sides are bad rolling shutter and low resolution EVM" yeah.. that sounds awful Now what does that mean?
@NoTraceOfSense
2 жыл бұрын
Rolling shutter is where the image/frame is captured in sections (and thus at different instants) instead of all at once. This makes the sensor effectively more sensitive, but results in distortion with fast moving objects or rapid flashes of light. For example, taking pictures of an aircraft propeller spinning at speed, rolling shutter results in weird patterns (compared to global shutter, which doesn’t). EVF (not EVM) is an acronym for Electronic Viewfinder. Tiny little screen that shows you what the camera sensor sees. Lower resolution = less detail.

Resolution and sensor size are irrelevant most of the time. But apart from that a decent guide. (And someone already mentioned it in the comments. The lens choice is one of the biggest considerations when buying a new camera, something like micro four thirds has a huge amount of cheap and expensive glass choices, full frame has much less, and is mostly more expensive, both have pros and cons). Also smaller sensors don’t have less light gathering capabilities. That doesn’t make scientific sense. But sensor size to resolution means each individual pixel will get less light the more you split them up. Remember there is no “best camera” only what’s best for you.

@@IanHobday quite weak? I never miss any shots during the last editorial. photoshoot with my GFX100. This was with GFX100. XT-4 and other new geneation X series cameras are much faster. If you don’t know how to use the camera , don’t blame the company. Fuji has crazy fast autofocus both for single and continuous focusing.

@@GKhanKutarfujifilm xt- 4 video autofocus issue is well-known .. I'm a fan of this camera, but canon is by far the best when it comes to autofocus followed by sony , strat trying out other brands you understand the problem..
