The sound of this thing at both low and high revs is freaking amazing. I own a 370z and absolutely love it. Even enjoy the sound. I’d never have said it could sound exotic tho. This thing absolutely does.

Extremely balanced car, I went from an 11 sec FD3S to a bone stock sport + touring 370Z and I love it as a daily. Extremely balanced and like my FD it loves being pushed to the edge.

I definitely think it still has the trumpet sound on the higher RPMs, but I really like that sound personally. I think it’s apart of what makes a 370z so unique.

Really no way of getting rid of that sound without RHFC/RTPs. Definitely part of the sacrifice going with long tube headers. The VQ displacement is much too large to have a good ricer (I said it, because it's unfortunately true) sound, so when the VQ ends up making it, it just sounds fake and off-putting, if that makes sense. To each their own, though. I have fi rhfc and their resonated cbe with z1 headers and love it. Sound is rich, full and deep toned without the obnoxious decibel level.

I've been wanting a Z since I was a kid and now that I can afford a new one I'm going with the 2023 Z and even though the VR30 has better tuning potential and is faster out of the box, the VQ37 is just pure heavenly music to my ears. With at least 50 hp less than the new Z, I would get WAY more speeding tickets with the VQ37 just from wanting to hear that note.

Best high rpm sound of any V6. This sounds like a quieter GT2 class car. There's a Z based company, the name leaves me, but they're popular. They have a ported intake manifold with a proven 30whp horsepower gain. I'm shocked at how much power VQ37's can make. They are near the power levels of a Porsche GT3 of their time. 415hp at 3.8L's in the Porsche. It actually seems doable with a Nissan VQ. Kudos to Nissan. I love the PPE headers. I love the Nissan VQ engines and by the way, I'm a huge Honda fanboy and of course a 2L engine is nothing compared to a 3.7L. I love the 370Z. It's my favorite GT car. The S2000 is my favorite roadster. I really got goosebumps when the engine was at high rpm. I got strong Porsche vibes when i heard it. Good thing you got rid of the OBX. They looked like engine suicide waiting to happen.

I have almost the same exact setup. Stillen cai with race upgrade, intake guide, ported upper and lower, ppe long tube headers, nismo diff with 4.08 gear change, all solid bushings and mounts, jwt c2 cams, and a nismo type r exhaust...flex fuel kit tuned on e85.....I'm only at 360whp, but changing out exhaust for a fast intentions x pipe. Good work on your build, hit me up if you want to hear any trials or problems I've had. I have a lot more upgrades and still working on my track 370 nismo.

In defence of the Invidia pipe size, the system used here is also 2.5"OD[63mm ext 60mm int] initially and then opens up to 3" at the X pipe. When I had my Invidia fitted that 2.5"[63mm] diameter was huge compared with what came off but particularly compared with the cat section pipe diameter which I think was even smaller? The stock internal dia at the front is 1.65"[42mm]. That means the cross sectional area difference with 60mm is just over double. That is the critical area for flow because the exhaust gas mass decreases as it cools so the pipe diameter should decrease as it progresses[to save weight], not increase. What diameter are the header pipes between the O2 ports? 2.5" or 3"? Ideally they would be 3" after the collectors because 2.5" at that point is even more restrictive than the 2.5" dia leading to the X pipe because of the heat and increased pressure. My ideal would be those gorgeous equal length headers feeding 3" dia after the collectors through a HF cat into 3" dia to the X pipe and from there 2.5" dia. Did it ever get dynoed with the new sensor?

I have a 2019 370Z sport coupe 6MT an recently had a Stillen Gen 3 long tube CAI, a Fast Intentions TDX x-pipe CBE and an EcuTek dyno tune done at Specialty Z in Simi Valley, CA. The peak rwhp is 321 @ 7200 rpm with a uniform 14 to 15% gain in torque across the rev range. It sounds great and is significantly stronger at all rpms. If I didn't live in California I would have installed those PPE headers. BTW: Condolences on what happened to your Z. I still think it's the best affordable buy for a true rwd classic two seater sports car.

I was thinking of getting Fast Intentions long tube headers with a Motordyne Shockwave catback along with 3" Admin tuning CAIs, EPS 70mm throttle bodies, Z1 lower and upper intake manifolds and an Admin ECUtek tune. After seeing this, I might go for PPE long tube headers, since the FI ones don't appear to be equal length! What made you chose Greddy over Motordyne, are there better gains with Greddy? Great vid! So those are all good parts, but there are slightly better parts out there for the same price. I didn't find any other long-tube equal-length headers for this platform, so the PPE's were the way to go. The Greddy exhaust I know is high quality since I've owned another one of their exhausts on a different car. The piping looked to the best largest out there, and the price point was very reasonable. I thought it was a no brainer 🙌 Thank you! I appreciate it 👊

Use ARP head studs and nuts. Always tighten from the middle out, never top to bottom or visea versa. It will stop it from blowing 3 months down the road. Great looking and sounding note at the top end. What was the power comparison with the old system at the bottom end, say 4000rpm and below

You do very well bro, one thing I want to mention that is the Stock exhaust manifold isn't inferior past 2k rpm, try test pipes (most restriction) and a Y pipe with stock exhaust manifold and then with the best headers and plz tell me you gain more than 2whp?

Run it down the 1/4 your time slip esp mph will tell what you gained. If primary tubes are sized right long tubes should pick up torque most places.

Damm...that performance was sick (despite driver O2 sensor issue). I have the Kinetic Hi-Flo Catalytic, so want to stay legal for moves to smog check states. Right now,I am working on upgrading Suspension & Stabilizers. Are you going to do the Phelm Mod & replace Hi-Flo Sensor upgrade? This is something under my consideration for 07' Z33 Roadster Touring next Power Boost and get 1st Official Tune.

So I’m in love with your set up but in my area, cops a pretty hard on loud vehicles. Never considered a Valve cut off for your exhaust??? I’ll definitely have to consider that before spending that much money on a full exhaust that’s probably even illegal here. They go adter the noise though...

Hey! I have same Catback + berk resonated test pipes. Yes, it is loud and 3K drone, but do not worry. Drone will reduce little bit in a couple months. Im finding headers, but i think i will go with catted headers or short + cat pipes. I will check once you fix O2 sensor. Good luck!

I always suspected the VQ cow noises were due to the unequal length headers. You just confirmed it! Every 350Z/G35 with even length headers sounds exotic! This has a Porsche vibe to it, great job! P.S. Beautiful video quality, what camera setup are you using?

Greddy is a great sounding exhuast but still has drone in lower RPMs minus headers. Greddy hooked my car up and is the one pic still on there website. White 2013 Z. But Motordyne to me minus headers so far is the best sounding ZERO drone even with out cats. Super quite and sounds waaaay diffrent while on it in high revs. All this minus header cuz i dont have on my 2016. But race headers like the ones Honda data use to make are the shit and gets most HP. But that being said was a long time ago. My card dosnt sound like a trumpet.

It's hard to say for your case since I see you said you put on CAI first. I did my exhaust and cats before i did z1 CAI and got tuned same day. Before the CAI, no consistent CEL but did get some popups for post cat too lean etc and it would go away. I legit feel like everyone's gonna be a little different for the Z setups specifically for HFC even with those O2 sensor extensions etc. Highly recommend getting a tune to correct all that. Guy at a shop told me once that as long as you don't go in for inspection with a CEL on you should probably be good to pass

Hi, is there any need of a wheel spacer...when we try to reduce the positive offset of the wheel on a FWD...like if the offset is positive 45 and I change the wheels to positive 35-40 without changing the tire...i wanted to try concave wheels on my car..if this is possible.. It does not. The long tube header will replace the manifold, test pipe / catalytic converters, followed by the Y pipe / x pipe, followed by the cat-back exhaust

You mean the VQ hiss? Every VQ37 will do that sound, and even way more noticeable with headers. Any headers, once catalytic converters are gone be ready to hear that VQ Hiss, or you can put a lot of resonators and quiet it down a lot without sacrifices besides weight

Get whatever you can afford. The touring sport comes with nice extras, the nismo comes with even better aesthetics a small bump in power and holds its final value better. But not much else

Did the ppe headers throw a cel? Currently in the market for LTH but trying to avoid cel

Yes, mine did. I dont have O2 defoulers. Going to get a tune to get rid of it. The video does not capture how loud it is, at low speeds its chill, after 4k RPM or so it screams. If you do intakes, headers and exhaust it would be better with a tune.

Since I wasn't sure of the fitment due to the issues I had with my other one, I wanted to make sure they worked before fully committing with ceramic coating & wrapping them. Let me be the test dummy 😉 If I were to do it again, I'd coat and wrap them since the fitment is amazing

I know it’s an old post but was there any noticeable difference between the invidia you use to run to this? Really like the Greddy and my plans are only the few basic bolt ons. By differences I mean sound, performance, fit? Thanks

There was a massive difference! Not only is it louder, but because of the larger piping and better design of the Greddy exhaust, it freed up a ton of power.

Just put one of these on my Z. The drone and volume between 2800-3300 is unbearable inside the cabin. Like, permanent hearing damage bad. How do you find the in cabin sound? I love the exterior note, and am thinking about a 3 stage audio sound deadening in the rear hatch.

Your highway speed and final drive will affect that. I find that driving around 80-90 kph and 125+kph isn't bad. That drone you mentioned is noticeable of course, but I don't find to be too bad since I usually drive my Z when I want to do some spirited driving, and its usually not below that rpm lol

What kind of external mic did you use to record the exhaust note!? I have a go pro and every time I try recording, I get horrible wind noise ?

I used the built in GoPro mic. Depending on where it is on your car, it will have a ton of wind noise, or not lol

Bro I seen u did silicone coolant hoses. I have a g37 sedan and I did the same for all of the coolant hoses. How was getting to the rear heater hose? For me it was a huge bitch i needed those cable hose clamp pliers

Hey Milan, had you ever seen any idle issues after going long tube headers? In mine the AFR seems to vary and fuel trims short term never get settle with my fast intentions long tube headers.

That sounds like a tune-related problem. Did you get a tune following your headers?

@@milanmastracci Yes, but I have to come back because they couldn't do it, They want me to put an AFR on the Y-Pipe, now I have to come back in two weeks... They said it's probably because of the long tubes... Let's see. You didn't have any issues? I changed spark plugs, fuel injectors, fuel pump, cjm fuel return system, manifolds, new oem denso O2 sensors, all gaskets are new as well and the problem persists, hopefully they will dial in with the tune but I was wondering if everyone noticed the same with long tubes

Maybe a dumb question, but if you have the long headers, does that mean no downpipe?

Hey Ben, yes you are correct. Long tube headers replace both the exhaust manifold, and the downpipes/catalytic converters.
