In that time most definitely. It was 1971 (post segregation) The KKK definitely had the courage back then to hunt him down and hang him for what he did. If it was ten years after I can see maybe not. But 1971 wasn't too far after the lynching era.

After watching this movie, I started doing some investigating on my own. CP Ellis basically walked away from everything after changing his beliefs. You have to respect that!

One of the most heart rendering scenes ever. The fact it’s a true story, makes it so amazing. Rockwell, is one of my favourite actors. If you haven’t seen Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, definitely watch it.

At first I was wondering how someone like this could possibly change & be enlightened. The fact that he was was nothing short of a miracle. Not to mention satisfying. Honestly, if a KKK leader can learn to be not hateful, just about anyone can follow in that example

One of the few scenes I’ve ever watched that’s nearly brought me to tears. I also was brought up in a house where I was taught men don’t cry. Took balls of steel to stand up and say something like that in a room full of Klan members knowing fine well what the consequences would be afterwards. Brave, brave man.

What's incredible is how proper Americans used to be. You'd never see a room separated like that today without one side or the other yelling back and forth being petty. It's humbling to see the restraint humans had before social media made us all mental.

Ugh, 😂 i cry eveytime i see this scene and especially the end when the real characters are discussing theor experiences together. I lived through this but in virginia. We didnt understand it as little kids. It was awful watching the protesting . The school bus drivers went on strike so we had the city buses coming to our bus stops to take us to school. Im lucky to have had my mother guide me through that

If it was like 1964 or prior then yes he probably would have been hung. By then it was 1971 and the KKK was very small and didn't have the same power they did ten years prior.

Plus I feel he made a smart move. By then it was post segregation and Jim Crow and that way of thinking was losing much popularity. By 1971 it was just left over policies that were going to end soon due to federal pressure to ensure of that.

But I especially LOVE the pride of his wife and daughter... the wife and daughter of the president of the horrific and racist KKK president, they are so proud of him for doing the right thing and seeing the transformational change in his heart.
