Race hub does not compare to the stories these guys told.....& the way they did it. Its nostalgic & GREAT!

Amen! This coverage was fantastic! I miss the in-depth detail and stories Inside NASCAR covered. NASCAR NEEDS their own network or streaming service, like EVERY other major sport has had for YEARS, very badly!

For anyone who's interested, the song that starts at 1:22:19 for the Pit Crew challenge bit is "Cinnamon Road" by Tangerine Dream Never did I think I'd hear Tangerine Dream as background music for a NASCAR video!

It was this show and Winston Cup Scene that fed my newfound interest in the sport back in 1989.

Ronnie sounds like he had a great personality. Its shame he never got out of the no sponsorship slump, never ran full time again, and only attempted 12 more races with his own equipment before calling it as a driver-owner in 1988. He was just in the wrong era to be racing with no sponsors. Luckily, sounds like he had a good time and he got a few top tens out of it before the new bodies came round in 1981.

This was at the height of the NASCAR experience - Dale was a bad guy ( I loved rooting for the bad guy ) And Bill from Dawsonville was running over 200 mph - Richard was still competitive - The California gal should get a ride if she's still around - I'd root for her - Chocolate looked like he was in fine form ! Listen to the drivers in 1985 & listen to the richy rich kids driving today - It's not hard to figure out - Just like college basketball - in 85 , the guys playing for your favorite team were almost like part of your family - now it's hard to even remember their name - They aren't in college long enough to learn fundamentals - the quality of the sport has suffered - sound familiar ?

The foam in the fuel tank is there to fill the empty space as the fuel level decreases so fumes can't gather, build & explode

It's mostly irrelevant, but Wendell Scott looked more like a Greek guy with a tan, than an "African American" guy, to me. He still paid the price though. No doubt about that. Humans are whack.

Interesting that J.T. Lundy shows up in this piece. He just died last week. Very controversial dude in the world of thoroughbred racing. For lack of better words, he ran Calumet Farm into the ground.

I caught incomplete race highlights on ABCs "Wide World Of Sports, as a kid in the mid to late 70s...some of my earliest memories. And the 1979 Daytona 500, was the first complete race I saw...which was obviously an incredible and historic event. I had always been a big Petty fan, as I think most little kids were. But by 84, 85, 86.... i was a big Bill Elliot and Cale Yarbrough fan. NASCAR has been ruined by political correctness and money. I miss these days!
