Ingredients:
Pao filling:
margarine 1/3 cup (75 grams)
onion 1 large (diced)
pork or beef 300 grams (1 1/3 cup)
soy sauce 1/2 cup
brown sugar 1 3/4 cup ( you may adjust the sweetness) to 1 2/3 cup
water 3 cups
cornstarch 3/4 cup (65 grams)
star anise 2 pcs (optional)
Noted: it's better to make this ahead of time.
Dough:
bread flour 1/2 kilo (500 grams)
sugar 1/2 cup ( 100 grams)
salt 1/2 tbsp
instant yeast 1 tbsp
bread improver 1 tbsp
water 1 1/2 cup
margarine 15 grams (1 tbsp)
lard or shortening 25 grams ( 1 1/2 tbsp)
Baking time : 18 to 20 minutes ( add 3 minutes for toasted pan de pao.
Oven temperature: 160°c
Yeild: 18 pcs (55 grams each)
