My wife just got me the 55 inch B9 yesterday and my god is it gorgeous. I spent a good while adjusting settings and now any screen I look at is a disappointment unless I'm looking at my beautiful TV! The blacks are solid, White text over black loading screens look CRISP while playing on the PS4 Pro and the motion settings idk about you but I actually like the smoothing. I'll mess with more settings today when I get home. Thanks for the video, very well put together.

LucidTr1p hi, did you calibrate this tv using professional equipment or just using the TV settings to calibrate it?
@freqgaming
4 жыл бұрын
@@xCaRbinEZz honestly the TV doesn't need much calibration using one of the ISF presets. I did mess around with color temperatures depending on the input as well as set brightness to 52 or 54 again depending on the content being played. I dimmed OLED lighting for when I play video games as it can get really bright which looks awesome but I want to prolong this TVs life and not have any burn in issues due to constant HUD elements on the screen. Perhaps in the future I will fork out some moneys for professional calibration but as of now I'm very happy with this TV.

Dude, great review! Although I like the "soap opera effect ". I think movies without them just don't look smooth. I know that the director for the last Mission Impossible movies didn't like it - but there's obviously a market for it , because it wouldn't be an option on most TV's. Dini Great Comment. I’m in the same thought. I prefer the pop and usually had it on Vivid mode but most people like Home Cinema. I changed it and saw the color we’re less impressive so after reviewing a few of these videos I decided to make Hone Cinema the official mode for DV but made some minor changes and I’m thinking of keeping the color temperature either in Cool, Medium or Warm 1. I honestly like the pop as you so thinking of Cool or Medium. What do you think is best for pop quality pics while keeping picture clean of grain and noises?

@@wolfmanjack530 Try maxing Sharpness to 50 that took everything to a whole new level for me at least. I generally use either Expert (Dark Room), Cinema (HDR), Cinema Home (Dolby) or Game Mode (Xbox One X). Also have set these or thereabouts with all of them: OLED 95 / Contrast 95 / Brightness 45 / Sharpness 50 / Colour 55 / Tint 0 / White Balance Colour Temp Medium or 0 / Colour Gamut Auto / Dynamic Tone Mapping On or HGIG / Dynamic Contrast Medium / Peak Brightness Medium / Black Level Low / TruMotion Clear mainly / Rest Off or unchanged I think If you go to Home > Photo & Video > Sample Video you should find a HDR demo and a Dolby Vision demo where you can make adjustments to your liking. As for Colour Temp thought I mention that I use Medium probably 90% of the time but there are occasions like the Lion pride part of Dynasties 4K etc where cranking it up to max Warm makes it look better.

If you leave the warm picture for a week your brain will get used to it and then if you go back to the cooler picture (with more blue light) then it will look off. First of all I like the thank you for all the tips and advice you given to everyone as well as myself, 'so thanks mate', I like the way you present your videos you've got a really good demeanor and you come across with your unassuming gentle Manor please don't think I'm brown-nosing or anything like that, I give credit where credit is due. It is really a pleasure to watch your videos, you really have got a little bit of glass, if you don't mind I'll tell you a little bit of my audio/ visual background and the predicament I'm in right now and maybe you can lend your two cents to me, at the moment in the bedroom I have a Sony Android LED TV along with monitor Audio Max 200 speakers and the brains of the operation is the Sony STR 1080 after watching a few of your videos Iam now in the middle of sorting out my living room, I have just purchased the LG OLED E8 I'm thinking of getting the marantz 7012 cause of its 9.2 channel as far as volume goes I've got to keep the Boom Boom tempo down a little considering I got neighbours all around me, so that's why I've decided to go with four small Heights speakers and 4 bookshelf speakers and maybe a nice centre channel speaker because I have taken on board what you have said in your previous videos about how important the centre channel speaker is. I haven't yet decided on what speakers to go with it, it would probably be average monitor audio speakers and maybe pay the extra and get a bronze or even a silver series Center channel speaker I would love to go with your B&W like you've got, but unfortunately my cabinet would not accommodate a speaker of that size, but to get back to my predicament if I was to go with what I just mentioned would I need external amplification with that 9.2 setup bearing in mind the subs are probably will be a 10 inch and an 8-in in but what I am thinking and maybe here you could correct me that considering they're all small or even bookshelf speakers am I able to get away without having external amplification, but if you was to advise me that it makes a big difference then I will follow your advice. If you are still reading this "considering I'm a bit of a knob head" not only are you sincere but you're truly are a diamond geezer. I can only imagine the amount of effort it takes to produce a professional video that you put out there for our sakes nevermind the time consuming effort all the editing etc regardless if you get back to me or not I just want to say a big thank you and please keep the videos coming because I really really do appreciate them and I just want to finish with a big thank you to you and your missus for putting up with all your shit so THANKYOU.

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it and l’m glad you find my videos useful! That’s a great receiver with plenty of power for bookshelves. Especially if you have a crossover of 80Hz or more. So you likely won’t need an amplifier. You’d need one if you were playing at higher volumes and/or have low speaker crossovers. Also, the marantz has a bass compression setting which helps prevent bass from traveling through walls in situation like yours. I bet your setup will sound great when you’re done. That said, I don’t know what a diamond geezer is lol. Good luck!

VillaMan, thank you for the awesome video. I followed most of your setting recommendations for my LG 65Inch B7 model. just have one question. In Dolby Vision and HDR10, for noise reduction & MPEG Noise reduction why not raise it all the way High since it will possibly improve picture quality? I see you leave it at Low and was wondering why not have it both on high. Thank You again! 🙏 Happy Holidays and New Year in 2020!
@ThaVillaMan

Hey! Noise reduction softens the overall picture, and it’s not really something you need for 4K sources, since hi res content doesn’t have that much noise to begin with. Happy new year to you too!

Hi! Thanks for sharing! I just bought one LG C9. Can I check with you if I am able to select between using HDR10 or dolby vision? I have no idea where i can toggle the options. Really hope you can advise. Also I have a PS4 Pro which supports only HDR10. When i use the PS4 Pro, does it automatically choose HDR10? Thanks!!
@ThaVillaMan

Congrats! The TV will automatically switch modes depending on the signal it receives. Wether it be Dolby Vision or HDR10, so no need to manually do anything. You can enable HDR in the PS4 Pro settings (and whether you want it to prioritize resolutions or frame rate) and it will remember that for each supported game

30fps framerates and below (a PS4 common trait in games) will appear juddery because the pixel response is instant on an Oled screen much like plasma but with alot more blur than plasma. On lcd the inherent motion blur makes the judder less noticeable. At 60fps or higher, oled displays no judder and is a joy to behold but at 30fps it cant work miracles. Any "stuttering" caused by the game engine/ps4 itself would be more noticable on oled too due to its pixel response. Oled will highlight flaws in sources more easily than other display techs but is most wonderful when there are none.

bro I have the c8, I was wondering if using the pixel refresher too much or 1 or twice a week is bad for longevity of the oled panel, I saw youtube and forums saying it is bad to over use it, I called lg and they said it is good to use no matter how often I use it, but sony oled tvs equivalent pixel refresher option is said to impact longevity. have u had any personal experience with it. at this point i believe lg customer service over random youtube videos where one doesnt know how they took care of the tv but I guess im looking for assurance that it is fine to use the pixel refresher option and not have to worry about the panel being impacted negatively.

No don't use it that often. I made that mistake of running the manual compensation cycle after every gaming movie youtube netflix amazon watching session. My first panel developed a vertical band showing over 30% stimulus in the magenta red orange scenes. The panel developed the fault 3 months before my 12 mth warranty was up with LG. I could have just had a faulty first panel, but the first panel was extremely clean yet the fault was waiting to occur??? Or i used the maintenance cycle too much which sped up the deterioration of the panel??? I'm not sure. On the 1st panel, the OLED light and brightness and contrast setting were kept at higher, 100 or default settings. I also tended to turn on the dynamic contrast more often. But that has been kept off a lot more on the 2nd panel. My 2nd panel LG replaced it with has been ok so far. I have never run the compensation cycle and allow only the tv to do it now. So in my case it's hard to say. I tend to think the compensation cycle was the cause for my panel dying so soon, or it may have been a result of me running the OLED light brightness and contrast on lower settings that has prolonged the life of my 2nd panel so much. Its still good today and i never run the maintenance cycle manually anymore, just in case that was a factor in my 1st panel dying so quick. But i guess i'll never know.

@@MaxPower-zp7wy thanks for the info, I asked lg and rtings they both said there shouldnt be a problem running the refresh manually but i choose not to do it anymore.ore anyway since i found out it runs automatically. I have the oled light between 60-70 majority of the time , I never go above 80. I havent use the high contrast setting too much overall but now I have set it to medium because I like how vibrant and poppy the picture gets. Alright 1 thing the dynamic tone mapping works a little differently then you said it chooses what it wants in certain scenes at least lgs does sometimes it chooses brightness over specular highlight detail other scenes it chooses specular highlight detail the c9 actually chooses more brightness then it did last year last year it was like all specular highlight detail I like the balance this year I've watched so much content aide by side with the c8 and the c9 def chooses more brightness in scenes them the c8 does in almost every scene the c9 wss brighter and highlights were pushed a little harder but you have to ahve the new peak brightness festure on high with hdr content of course to reach its max brightness for highlights
