Hey everyone, glad to see this is getting recommended and people are enjoying it! Here's a link to the PS1 box covers mentioned in the video (drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hImi3Hw8m8UMImowuSCGSkiqaGS-cJco?usp=sharing) I also put a GIMP file and some associated assets if you want to make your own! There's PS2 covers in the link as well but I didn't make them and the person who did used a very sweet looking gradient on the side to make them look legit, a gradient I ain't good enough to figure how to recreate myself. I found a lot of the assets on the Launchbox database so have a look if you need the best scans of cover art there and make sure to add to it if it's missing anything. Thanks for watching - peace, love and muscle 💪xx

I can explain the "nop" thing. "nop" is a common assembly mnemonic that is shorthand for "no operation". It represents a CPU instruction that does absolutely nothing. You were most likely being tasked with replacing an instruction in the game with a no-operation instruction. This is a common technique used in game patches to disable some of the game logic.

PCSX2 Is my favorite PS2 game. I spend more time screwing around with the checkboxes and settings than playing the games.

I cut my teeth on a lot of emulators back when I was a kid. Discovering them for the first time is like a dream come true, getting to play whatever games you want. Back then I didn't mind fiddling around with settings and plug ins to play Banjo Tooie because it was "do that, or don't play Banjo Tooie". These days I find myself having less and less patience with the emulation process. Since I have disposable income, I'd rather spend the money on flash carts or curated emulation collections that "just work" (provided the input lag isn't too bad) as opposed to sitting at my computer and figuring out RPCSX2. I wouldn't ever want to see these projects disappear because emulation is an objective good, but I'm willing to pay for the convenience more mainstream services provide these days.

Well said. I'm happy to pay for well-made ports but if I have to emulate to play nearly every game I grew up with some modern day conveiences then I'mma do it. Even it if causes the intense mental illess displayed before you.

Genuinely very entertaining, informative, and well made; very surprised by the low amount of views. Hopefully just a matter a time. The bluetooth connectivity issues bit absolutely killed me btw, the zero context and just hearing those names sent my sides into orbit

When you realize the man only has 500 subs. Holy shit. I haven’t related to an emulation video as much as I have this one. I thought I was the only idiot on planet earth that constantly pulls their hair out every time I decide to fire up Sly Cooper or Resident Evil 2. Great video!

Finished the video: Your commitment to improving things in whatever way you can is inspirational! I get deeply annoyed by many of the same things you do, but whether due to some kind of executive dysfunction or something else, tend to be unable to organize myself into.. actually Doing anything. But I feel like this has given me a bit of a push. Super high quality video! Fantastic editing. I’m rooting for ya to figure out the Cheat Engine stuff, and I’m curious if you’ve put any of your PSDs (or whatever the GIMP equivalent is) for box art stuff up anywhere. Or if you’ve been uploading your finished work somewhere.

While i have to disagree with some aspects, i think some consoles for how they work would be impossible to recreate perfectly. At least in my case, I bought a DS and a GBA because even with the best emulator the DS is very awkard to play, with a screen too small and the stretching is just terrible and the GBA because no emulator seems to do the sound accurate. Literally all of the GBA emulators i tried have different sound! What is supposedly to be the real one? And probably other people just decided to buy another console instead of upgrading their PC because even with the best an emulator can always give a "but". No one of these issues are really important if some doesnt want accuracy (except the DS one imo), but for me the slightest change can be game changing. Btw, very good video, im honestly impress.

Thanks sebastian! I'm thankfully not *that* anal about it being a perfect representation. Especially if that means higher required specs. I totally agree on the DS front though. I think 3DS's are going to go up in price a lot because unless someone decides to make their own dual-screen fancy device in the future. 3DSs and OG DSs are going to be the only real satisfactory way to play those games.
