Hulkman really builds great stuff. The quality of the product, the design, the packaging. You can see how proud they are. I don't have any benefit saying all of this. I got the new trickle charger from them and this thing is sweet. They thought about everything. For average user and in areas which are not super cold, the 8.5 regular is a no brainer.

Dude, you're a lifesaver. I'm new to these since I had a mini emergency that was a dead battery in a Chrysler Town & Country van. It's rated at a surprisingly high 800 cold cranking amps, but it went completely dead as the accessory port sometimes gets stuck in the on position without the key unless you're more careful unlike me apparently lol. It was totally dead, and there are many electronics that pull from the battery (daytime running lights are always on, media players and electronics all add to what I need to get the starter to turn over). I plugged one of these into that massive battery thinking it was just not feasible for such a small battery and to my shock, the van started up like normal. The jump pack must have been connected for no more than 30 seconds. And I think you found a nice one really, mine has similar specs and of course a similar price, but I like that LCD battery screen display and the dual lights on it (they're also handy for a camping trips). What I'm trying to really understand is how these jump packs are designed to work to jump a 12V car battery while the input is only 5V/3A. I was thinking that the batteries are in parallel, but I wonder the more scientific details. Regardless these things are awesome, and thanks for the recommendation, will look into those for potential gifts.

I'm a roadside assistance tech and had this box until it burned up on me. I purchased during the kickstarter and waited a bit more than a year AFTER their release date to receive it. For a jump box it is seviceable but certainly not fantastic. It's only redeeming feature was the quick charge. The pre-heat function melted the LCD face the very *_FIRST_* time it was activated and caused the box to start spewing smoke for quite some time. For the sake of safety it was thrown into an empty metal dumpster in case it chose to catch fire. I used it multiple times daily for the better part of a year until one 7 degree day... poof. The advertisement says it'll jump 80 cars... yeah, if the car's battery could've done it alone. It'll jump more like 20 or so if they're just low, and it will jump big engines just fine. Batteries that are stone cold dead might take 20% of the box's power but it'll crank 'em if there are no other issues (usually computer related as it tries to boot up before the box's auto-shutoff at 20 seconds). Decent design, nice and weighty. Quick charge feature is fantastic. Design could use a lot of improvements. A - cable retention inside the box is flat out *_horrible._* The cables will simply fall out under their own weight and feel very loose once plugged in. B - Clamps have relatively flat surfaces which limits their ability to bite the terminals. If the battery has side-posts simply forget it and use locking pliers before connecting the clamps. C - LCD screen could provide SO much potential information - chiefly the voltage of the recipient battery when connected and, perhaps, the input voltage from the alternator once the vehicle is running. The error codes are absolutely pointless - just random numbers. D - Compared to other offerings in the 4000cca category it's rather expensive. Quickcharge is becoming more common, but the pre-heat (when it works) is still an exclusive to my knowledge.

@@arthursmith643 You're joking, right? A GB150 is putting out three times the power of that vector joke. You NEVER buy a jump box from a brick & mortar location because you'll never find anything higher than 1200amps. 04:09 working in up to -40°C not Fahrenheit. Your saying Fahrenheit and Hulkman uses °C. Don't know about this model, but the 8.5 works to 0°C but to work in -40°C you need the 8.5S model. Has a heating element. They're mainly so you can store them in your vehicle and they still work. Most living there have to store them inside where it's warm. I'm in mid GA, so it rarely drops below 50°F.
