While I think you should question everything, I agree that Dr Dray is one of the few social media influencers who will give reliable skincare advice and reviews. I think there is a big issue with brand affiliation and financial stakes when it comes to the beauty industry online. E.g. you might have a dermatologist or influencer recommending skincare practices that align exclusively with the philosophy of their skincare brand. So, I am super cautious when it comes to product reviews and personally, find many of the top skincare influencers to be unreliable. I don't tend to buy trendy skincare so it isn't really an issue for me though. Except Paula's Choice 2% BHA Gel, that is pretty trendy but also very affordable for a European leave on salicylic acid option so I didn't really see another option. Definitely many exaggerated claims about the product but it would likely still be something I recommend simple because the pump is very efficient

Just to share some of the cons, the Cerave hydrating sheer tint sunscreen can look like an orange spray tan on fair and light skin tones. Also, it doesn't set and can transfer color on your clothes. It is dewy and hydrating and has a nicer texture than most drugstore American sunscreens. But it is thicker and oilier than Asian sunscreens. If you have a medium skin tone, I think you will appreciate the glow and coverage.
@rmgqwzxiytfj
3 жыл бұрын
@@SK-fy8dl Hated that sunscreen. Clogs pores, like all mineral sunscreens do, and makes you look like an orange, greasy slice of pizza. It's so shiny, it's ridiculous that products with a finish like that get approved and are sold. It's also quite expensive, and only SPF 30. 👎

Hi, Dr. Dray. I just discovered a new sunscreen that I think you would appreciate. It's the Babo Botanical Clear Zinc Fragrance Free SPF30 Water Resistant 80min. I'm very impressed with the absence of apparent white cast and how comfortable and spreadable the formula is. (For reference: I have olive skin, and usually need a tinted SPF if I don't want to look undead.) Thought you'd like to know, in case you haven't tried it yet. Being on Accutane (oral Isotretinoin) I really had to switch up some of my sunscreens as my skin got extremely dry! My favourite non-tinted SPF is the Coppertone Pure & Simple SPF 50. I also love the Avene Mineral Tinted Fluid SPF 50+. I will say that the Coppertone one takes a bit of time to work in. However, once it's worked in and left on for for about 5 minutes, the cast goes away. I have light-medium skin for anyone wondering. I would like to say as well that being a male with thick facial hair (that grows very fast) makes it even more difficult to work these sunscreens in.

Another one that is my absolute favourite this year is the recently reformulated Allie UV Facial Gel. It's more matte than the regular UV Gel and really does stay put all day. The Allie UV Perfect is also very nice and very resistant to water and friction, but it has more cast than the other two.

The La Roche Posay Melt In Milk left a white cast on me and would pill up even more than mineral sunscreens I’ve used, and it did sting my eyes a bit too. But I do love the Omi Verdio UV Moisture Gel. It leaves a bit of a metallic shiny robot look on my skin, but it’s moisturizing and I feel confident wearing it. But my favorite sunscreens to wear during work video conferences are either the Skin Aqua Super Moisture Gel because there’s no shine, or the MDSolarSciences Tinted Mineral Creme since it’s matte and gives a nice glow that’s not orange. Same here Kristin! I keep seeing this recommended and was so excited to find it on sale but I had the same experience and I have super dry skin! I don't put any other moisturizer under it and use a nickel sized amount (slightly less than my untinted sunscreens) and it never dries down and slides around on my skin. The other issue is that if I blot it to reduce the greasiness (I wait 20 minutes before blotting) then it literally blots the color away and I end up looking splotchy. Any pointers on application @Dr Dray?

This product was easy to apply on the skin. I also use it around the eyes and it don't burn or cause tearing, don't cause me breakouts, don't leave a white cast. Looked very good when I applied a foundation on top, the face looked not shiny, but glowy. I spread an additional 'isispharma invisible fluid SPF50' around the eyes and it also don't burn or cause tearing. I am not a skincare expert, but I have very sensitive skin and rarely any sunscreen does the job for me and doesn't feel heavy on the skin, doesn't cause breakouts, doesn't burn eyes and looks very well under the make up.

Loving the Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46 facial sunscreen. I have some rosacea and sensitivity so finding my skin care “favs” is not easy. This product is gentle with absolutely no irritants for my fussy skin. It’s mostly a physical sunscreen without a white cast and absorbs into my skin quickly leaving it soft and protected. I do reapply during our hot, humid southern summers and I have never experienced even slight pinkness from the sun. One other note, I use 2 big pumps of this in my hand and a 1 drop of Dermablend pigment and I have the best stay put “foundation/sunscreen” coverage ever....and it looks like really good skin.

Whenever I use sunscreens near my eyes, they get extremely irritated. They burn, itch, water, get dry and my eyeballs/eyelids get super red.

any sunscreens that feel like the purito sunscreens but actually with a decently high spf?

Keep cool and soothe sunscreen feels quite similar! It's made in a different lab from Purito and Klairs UV airy essence which both have the same base formula that's in question now.

Body shop's spf 50 is so similar to it.But it has fragrence and alcohol on it so i dont know if you would prefer it:D

I am going to try the CosRx sunscreen and see how that is. I loved the Klair's one and used it all up and can't get it now because it has the same base as the Purito one. Currently using SunBum SPF 50 face one. This one stings around the eyes, is greasy, and smells like sunscreen. I hate sunscreen smell. Hopefully the CosRx one works out well. Anyone use the one from CosRx?

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid is my favourite sunscreen. Very high SPF and UVA protection. It is shiny but waterproof and doesn't clog the pores like Purito's sunscreen. I wouldn't worry about the alcohol unless your skin barrier is already compromised

I am so excited and happy that Verdio is in your top 5. I absolutely love that sunscreen and it's the one that made me diligent in applying sunscreen religiously.

I'm currently using the Nivea sun kids spf 60 that You recommended on a video a while ago, and it's so beautiful to wear, i has ZERO cast, i have used the Anti shine from la Roche posay in the past and it just left My skin all white (and i'm white) and Also left a Lot of peels in You look closely anyways a huge mess. So the Nivea one is amazing it has a Lot of product and it's no expensive so i can use a Big amount of it in every aplication. But since i have depression, i normally wake up at 5:00 pm hahaha so i spent most of My time in My room, with My face directly protected with the bed's sheets, so that's My experiencie. I hope u have a good xmas Eve dr dray xoxo

Dr Dray pretty much has said that the only thing that makes something a night or day cream is the name and not because there's a difference in the product (basically, manufacturers simply trying to get people to spend more money). So basically use whatever cream you want whenever you want.
