Is it possible to top coat weber render that was scratch coated a long time ago? Or would I have to take it back to brick and start the process again?
@Miranda-cw9hq
Жыл бұрын
From what I know about Weber, you should be able to top coat it now. Just make sure your surface is clean and I would suggest dampening it so the top coat can stick better. I'm no expert, though! Rather double-check!

Nice to see that some new materials are made for multiple purposes. Seems like you know how it's supposed to be applied. I like your wavey scratch lines, most guys just scratch straight. But we know that there is a reason for the waves,which keeps the double coat ridged and secure. I haven't seen too many guys that have a traditional style ,and you have that style. Nice to see a real plaster man. Great video. I AM PLASTERER😎 1963

@richardgrimbleby7853 There is an important reason for waves. I've never had any problems with water in the waves. If a wall is too wet,we wait. But normally, if a scratch coat is too dry, we may spray the wall. It will make the double coat more workable.. I have never used straight scratch lines. They are not functional, and they don't look nice. Every step has to look good for everyone to see,even the scratch coat. If I showed you, you would understand? I was asked to build a mansion for a billionaire. It was in the middle of nowhere, I'm talking the countryside. About 12 hours drive to the site. It was almost off grid. Most of my clients are high, so they want the best. And I work to a very high standard and give them the best.. and to to this day I have never had a single complaint, and I've been doing this work for over 35 years. Anyway I got all the foundations done and prepped everything ready for the build, got all the materials delivered for the whole build. My plan was that once I got on site I would stay there until I finished. There was a temporary Porta cabin, etc etc. I was going to start on a Sunday morning. So I turns up to the site.. only to realise I had left my tool bag at home. It contained most of my building tools. I contemplated driving back to pick them up but it would mean I would lose a day. And seeing as though I planned to finish the whole project off in 2 weeks, I couldn't leave. So I took out my flask, and poured myself a cuppa, and had my sandwich, cheese and pickle it was. Whilst eating, I thought of many ways to get around the problem. Then it hit me. I may have forgotten my tool bag, but I had other things I could use. I looked around and found a tablespoon, a Butter knife, a fork, toothbrush, scissors. I soon got to work. Got really stuck in. I ended up building the whole house, completely inside and out. Using the above mentioned utensils. Mixed cement, Plaster with the spoon for eg. Plastered and did the brickwork with the knife.. Painted with the toothbrush... Etc etc. The work was done to a very high standard as per usual. The customer was so pleased with the quality of workmanship, they gave me an extra million quid. I completed it in 2 weeks.
