Note for new players: table tennis used to be faster and spinier before 2014 because the ball was smaller (2000) and was made from celluloid

That’s probably why in the older clips you see the players stand further from the table, because it was way faster and they needed time to react, but after the new ball, most of the rallies you often see are players playing faster and closer to the table.
