We use these XPS13's at work. We had the older 2017 model and the newer 2020 model. Buyer beware, these have been very unreliable for us in business. The batteries don't last but for about 2 years before they begin swelling. The RAM and SSD are also soldered to the motherboard. Might want to tell people that. We bought 8 at the start of the year in 2020, so they were manufactured BEFORE Covid. 6 of them had serious hardware issues, and 2 were DOA out of the box. I don't trust Dell XPSes anymore. We went with the Latitude 7400 2-in-1 instead. Even those gave us problems, but less so than the XPS units.

Purchased the 9310 2-in-1 model (i7-1165G7 | 32GB | 1TB model)) and it has been nothing but problems right out of the box. BSODs, screen flicker/flashing, and random freezing. It was a work purchase delivered around mid January 2021 and still dealing with Dell Support to get this resolved. If you do decide to go with this XPS I would recommend to check out this thread over on Reddit (www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/lj5qak/xps_13_display_issue_affecting_7390_9300_and_9310/). I have the 2-in-1 version of this 9310 and it has been great. I recommend checking out their Outlet store for further discounts. I do work for Dell though am not biased, my only gripe is the keyboard has a different feel from prior XPS with a shallow key travel (0.7 mm), and also a bit louder clack. However can still type fast. The standard 9310 reviewed here may have a slightly better feel. It runs CEMU well, though I did not have much luck with Yuzu. With the 2-in-1 the SSD is also soldered on, along with the memory, though I was able to get one with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB NVMe, which is great for this size.

The price is the deal-breaker here along with performance. The Matebook 14 AMD 2020 (2021 arriving soon) is £350 cheaper in the UK for the same spec and will perform as well. So you are really paying for the USP of the small bezels. Other OEMs are catching up and if looks are important are not far behind but you save a lot. They are great laptops though and if the cost is not a factor then they should be on any shortlist.

I have the 2-in-1 version of this, it's almost identical save the hinge design. I freaking LOVE it. Only bad part is that I got the last generation, so Iris Plus instead of Iris XE graphics. I didn't know the graphics performance difference would be so massive but, the trade-off is that it costed $400 less. And dongles don't bother me so I'm totally enjoying it. Another thing I am learning is that, 4k displays really eat the battery, even if you manually drop it to 1080P or 1200P. Still! Incredible laptop, emulators are totally playable, I couldn't be happier. The HP Spectre 14 tends to review better, but I chose the Dell because of aesthetic reasons.

A bit off-topic, but what's that Xbox controller? Looks like it has grip handles like a Switch Pro controller!

6:10 Forza uses 80% of the 16GB RAM ? That is interesting. We need 32GB RAM then ? Pardon me, but this is a laptop, so maybe I missed out on what is the weight of this machine ?

Would you opt for the clamshell or 2-in-1 design??

I just got the 2in1 iteration of this with 32gb ram and 4k touch and it runs skyrim at max settings with no issues out of the box (unplugged too). I am thoroughly surprised at how fast this device is.

Dell XPS have always been phenomenal build quality. Too bad Dell won't make a Ryzen XPS 13.

The thing I hate with the XPS line is just the bloody slow response times. Scrolling through text just leaves a horrible blur and dell are notorious for it but don't seem to care to address it. If not for this, I'd own an XPS for sure =[

Basically 1 port available( 2nd is used with power brick) in the shell that was previously capable to accomodate multiple full-sized ports. Yeah, I know that Dell is always trying to follow Apple's vision but in Windows world. But ... enough is enough. Also, what is a point of this tiny port and slim shape of the laptop if I need to buy and always carry with me some bulky adapters for multiple USB, HDMI, SD card reader, etc...? If I need device with 1 TB port only -- I will buy tablet, not laptop.

Yeah stay away from HP. They don't have a good reputation when it comes to laptops. I know multiple people who had really bad luck with their HP machines. The company my dad works for (100k+ employees) doesn't use HP laptops anymore because they also had huge problems with them.

Just wondering what about the noise and temperature when playing on games like Overwatch for awhile? usually these laptops [because they're not for gaming] has a pretty low end cooling unit [if at all and not just a passive] Thanks :)

Why do they have to be so Apple and not include at least one full size USB-A port? But... To be fair that bottom part actually looks thin.

I have this laptop and yes it costs a pretty penny but what you get is worth it, As I film for others and edit for them/ do some picture editing and this little thing is very good and I love the screen and build quality. I want to buy an eGPU soon but due to the current status of cards and stock ill wait it out, I do have a gaming pc with a 2700x OC 32gb 3600mhz and a RTX 3080 in it, so I'm set for now but I want the eGPU for when I travel to other places or states.
