Here's a reality check for you. $20,000 in 2011 is worth $27,273.71 today. That means you paid more for your 2011 R/K than a 2024 R/K special, which is superior in every way to the 2011 model. So there's that.

Certainly you are correct in what you say comparing the Road King Special, which seem like a reasonable deal to me, although it does lack the saddlebag guards, windshield, running lights, and longer rear shocks that my Classic has, making mine, IMO, more suitable for touring. My main beef is that I would never spend (others certainly are free to) the almost additional $20k for all the other stuff that's on the CVO model you featured. But always nice to get a reply from you, Motorman, and please keep up the great work! I will be 80 in May and still feel competent and comfortable on my bikes because of your training videos and ongoing practice. Thanks!

Always respect your opinions based on your motor officer experience but you do display a slight HD bias. IMHO the best touring bike is the BMW R1250RT. Has every luxury/convenience feature of the CVO, and at around 630 lbs is 200 lbs lighter than the HD with a superior power/weight ratio. Face it the CVO advantage is mostly cosmetic. The BMW on a mountain road would run away from the HD and out accelerate it on the straights. Also very comfortable maybe not as much for the pillion. Just for the hell of it take a 2023 1250RT for a ride and compare them for us. Oh yeah the BMW is over 20K less $.

I do like a lot my 2023 Street Glide CVO (an "old" model !). I got my driving license back two weeks ago, since than I have made 700 Km with it. As you say, it's the most interesting cruising bike I have had, lots of power, soft, comfortable, precise... I kind of synthesis of the best characteristics of the LowRider S, Ultra Limited and Breakout 117 Stage II. A few points to consider : 1. It is absolutely crucial to adjust the rear suspension properly. For this, we must read the manual, the big visible nob on the left is essentially useless. 2. When using the cruise control I inadvertently cut my engine twice simply by swiping softly the main switch. For me, it should be harder to avoid this. And I dislike to have to turn the whole bike off and on when I wish to play a bit with this interface on a ride. 3. Too much importance is given to distracting things, like sound and the graphical user interface. In parallel, the turn lights switches a poorly accessible, I often push an accessory switch instead of them. This even after having adjusted the handles position. 4. The Apple Car play connection is sometimes unstable, at least when the link is wireless. It seems a bit better with a wired connection. But, what a wonderful bike ! Thank you for your videos in general, and especially for teaching me again how to manage our beloved mamouths !

Still a long way I feel. An extremely steep price point (CVO), and Standards still lack a lot of stuff the competition is offering (heated seats/grips, reverse, electronic suspension, electric windshield to name a few). Even with better suspension travel, others still fair better on stock setups. However, the new glides are a step in the right direction. Superb design evolution and they do really look good. I agree BMW, Goldwing have some extra features Harley's don't and may never have. Harleys will probably never be the logical value purchase (but which motorcycle ever is 😉) What sells Harley to me over others is the rugged style, how easy it is to make that syle fit my preferences, beautiful paint and finishes, the way it makes power from down low, the way I sit in it and the deep rumble. Those are things a BMW or Goldwing will never have in the same measure for me. But I totally understand riders have different priorities so I'm glad we have so many great choices. 👍

@@sportyonetaubert5923 Absolutely agree, HDs are a choice made by the heart and not by the brains. All I feel that if the Motor Company starts offerings features/technology that are standard on the other motorcycles and starts giving a motor from factory that would not need a Stage upgrade for power boost, HDs would actually have a pretty pretty good chance to be with the top bikes there. @@jaspreetsinghbajwa4374I think when we discuss high dollar bikes, they ALL are emotional purchases because cars are so much more safe and practical. I don't feel the need to spend anything to upgrade my Road King with a basicly stock 107. Rear wheel torque is already pretty close to the Goldwings according to Cycleworld. People who complain about the price of a new CVO make me laugh. They weren't built for a middle income guy with four kids. They are the top of the line motorcycle and not for everybody. There are lots of things we cant afford but you can't blame the motor company for building a gem of a motorcycle, and selling it at a price befitting a gem. And, don't forget, there are thousands of super low mile, mint condition CVO's out there for a fraction of the price of a new one. So instead of settling for some plastic Harley Davidson wannabe, find a 10 year old Harley with 3,000 miles on it, (they're out there,) and go for it. I've owned metric cruisers and when I got my first Harley, it was immediately apparent that it was a big step up in value and feel. And if someone like Jerry Palladino, who has ridden everything under the Sun, says that this is the best touring motorcycle money can buy, you can believe it.

I'm impressed with the new cvo.. Harley delivered a great package. I know you rode the Indian challenger, I wonder how that compares. Maybe the challenger elite vs the road glide cvo. That cvo st is really nice I saw one at Tallahassee HD. Well done moco😮

I've ridden the Challenger. Plenty of power, but the motor sounds like a diesel, manuverabilty is not in the same league as H.D. touring bikes and the riding position is too stretched out for me. As for as styling, I don't care for it.

Let's call a spade a spade. If Indian had not come out with the Challenger/Pursuit - Frame, features, power train, ride modes etc. - the 2024 Road Glide would look just like it has been for the past decade but with a new paint job. Change my mind. 🤷♂️

No doubt a great motorcycle, but $44K MSRP and probably a lot more at a dealer. Too rich for my blood for a car never mind a motorcycle.

Hey Jerry, love your videos very informative. I'm an old dude (59) and have always wanted to ride, never could afford one, but now I can. You think I'm too old? I found a good deal on an ultra glide. I've never ridden anything larger than a 750 back when I was a kid, but I'd love to buy this bike I'm looking at. Can you give me some good advice?? I'm comfortable riding a smaller bike, but a little apprehensive on handling a Hog. What do you think??

It’s like the Chevy crowd complaining about a Ferrari being too expensive. CVO targets a certain demographic, they definitely are not for everyone.

Not really, More like people with common sense comparing an Apple iPhone to a reasonably priced smartphone that is superior in many ways. 😊 "CVO targets a certain demographic, they definitely are not for everyone." There is a market for almost everything, especially for the more money than brains club. The most expensive product isn't necessarily the best in its category.

Thx for the video Jerry. I’m a batwing guy and now the sharknose is the popular fairing. What’s your experience in comparison?

I don't find a big difference in the way they block the wind. I like the styling of the Batwing better than the Sharknose.

Your SO pension must be significantly different than my PD pension, Jerry! There's no way on God's green earth I'd ever consider spending $44g+ on ANY bike, much less an HD. Different strokes, I guess.

I've owned a business for 24 years that teaches the police motor officer techniques. I have the biggest-selling motorcycle instructional videos in America and 19 licensed schools around the country and one in Japan. My pension doesn't have anything to do with what I can spend on a motorcycle. My wife, however, does have a lot to say about it. 😁😁

FYI Jerry this 2024 CVO 121 engine does not have VVT. Not sure why they didn’t have this unless it’s because owners can tune with engine easier when then change exhaust pipes, add a cam etc.
@chevyon37s

They dropped the VVT because it sucked, and Kyle Wymann one of the factory king of the bagger racers says it was because they wanted to focus more on top end HP than low end Tq in the 121 since it already has tons of Tq.

This 2024 121 CVO Street glide (as featured in this video), is definitely a VVT motor, as is the 2024 121 CVO Roadglide. The 2024 121 CVO ST Roadglide is not a VVT motor.
