We lived in Carolina Forest for about a year and moved because of the over growth and building and the traffic. Distance wise the beach should be quick to get to, but unless we were leaving super early in the morning it could take us 30 or more minutes to get there. We moved to Little River and love it. We can get to Calabash in 5 minutes and Sunset Beach in 15.

Anything near the intersection of International and Hwy 90 is Definitely the best and most affordable place to live. It may seem like it’s out in the middle of nowhere, but it’s really not. It has easy access to get wherever you want to go. Carolina Forest, especially near the 501, is a traffic nightmare! If you pick Carolina Forest make sure it’s on the side closest to International.

Looking for a small house/cabin on an acre or 2 of land outside the crowds to retire. Suggestions? Have u done where to retire videos?

There are few videos on retiring to the area. To get that much land, you are looking probably out a good 45-60 minutes from the beach to find it. Shoot me an email to info@jeremyblanton.com with some of the details as to what you are looking for in a home and I can do a search of what is out there!

Unfortunately, as a licensed REALTOR® I am not allow to discuss schools due to fair housing laws. I'd suggest using greatschools.net as a resource for school ratings.

Thanks for the great video! I’ve been looking at homes for sale in the Carolina Forest area for a while and will start looking around in the areas you mentioned. Not ready to move yet but hopefully in a few years. Love watching your videos and I have learned a lot from you. I have one question that I would love for you to answer if you can. I see quite a lot of homes for sale that have a big pond in the back yard. Does those ponds ever get flooded in heavy rains and in hurricanes? I would be afraid to live in any of those homes. Thanks for all you do Heather

Hey there Heather! Thanks for the comment! The ponds behind the homes are normally retention ponds to collect water runoff from the roads. Most of the time there is no issues with them. I've living in and around the CF area for many years and do not remember any ever flooding there. There was a time down on the southern end of the beach where a neighborhood had issues, but that was due to a beaver building a dam in one of the drainage pipes. I currently live on one of the retention ponds in CF and have no concerns about the water.
