Alan we still miss you and hope you are at peace. You still live on through your videos. Whether through inspiring new smokers or when you just want to enjoy a pipe with a friend. Put a couple videos on, light up, and smoke with a friend.

Hi Alan new beard look ? Looks like the beard of Napoleon III. Good trick, but if you want to re-hydrate only tobacco for one bowl quick , put the tobacco in your bowl, and breath a few times trough the bowl into your mouthpice, it works very quick greetings from germany Edward

Nice video, Alan. Much agreed about enjoying the pipe whilst doing simpler activities. I've occasionally had a pipe where I was doing too much at the same time and the next thing I know, the pipe is down to the bottom and didn't spend enough time tasting the tobacco itself. Looking forward to seeing the progress on that pipe! Sounds promising. Peace, Eric

Hello Alan, I must admit, I find, in these temperatures pipe smoking isn't so enjoyable. The pipe gets a bit hot, the tobacco doesn't seem to be the same. The mouth is drier. Do you re-hydrate new tobacco or do you find it dries out when you have had if for a while? Some people actually change tobaccos in the summer. Interesting video Cheers Martin

I only re-hydrate when it has been in the jar for a while and has become dried out. Thanks for commenting. Alan.

Thanks for commenting A.J. These are just my views and no one needs follow them, and many folk keep a pipe in their mouths all day long, but I don't feel this is the best way for me. Take care. Alan.

Agreed on both points my friend. My favorite way to enjoy a pipe is to sit outside at night on my deck, tea or water in hand, a book in my lap, and a great pipe in my hand. I've really been enjoying VA flakes and G&H Brown Irish along with my reading, although the Brown Irish is a bit too strong to smoke for long periods of time. Happy Smoking Alan! -Steve

Great tip on hydration. I have been having some tongue bite this week with some tobacco that is older. I am gonna try your method. Thanks. I like your suggestion on best way to smoke a pipe. I needed to hear this today. I have allowed myself to smoke on the go lately. I need to hold off till I am ready to truly enjoy the pipe. Thanks Alan... Phillip USA

I like pairing my pipe with a good strong cup of coffee ...or a ice cold frothey foamy A&W Root beer. at 1st I used to like it with a good aged glass of scotch whisky or like a old school tom Collins Heineken and sometimes Malibu and pineapple beers or shots of crown Royal but I strangely I can't do it since the past couple years? its like it gets me grossed out and headachey
