For small I paintings I like to use Floaterframes from @AmpersandArt because they're easy to use and don't require any special tools. I also like the fact that they allow the full painting to be displayed whereas traditional frames have a rabbet that covers up about 1/4" of the edge of the painting.
This is a problem when framing a small painting because it can cover up your signature or important elements of the painting. It doesn't take long to frame a small painting in a floater frame. The tools and supplies that I used are listed below

AMPERSAND FLOATER FRAMES
You can use these to frame flat 1/8" panels, or cradled panels that are 3/4" or 7/8" thick. They also work on stretched canvases. They're available in different colors and profile thicknesses.

AQUABORD
The small painting in this video is gouache on a 5x7 Aquabord. Aquabord is a wood panel that has a clay coating with a subtle texture. I find that it works great with traditional gouache, watercolor, and water mixable oils. They're available in packs of 3 and I often use them for plein air painting. Here's a video where I use them outdoors with gouache. • Plein Air Gouache Pain...

ARTISTS PANEL
This is the cradled panel that I used for the 8x10 painting in the video of the Japanese Tea House. It's 3/4" thick and it has a canvas like texture to it.

ARTEZA FOAM TAPE
This foam tape is double sided, acid free, and it can support 2.2lbs per square inch. You need to use foam tape, regular double sided tape won't hold. The foam helps the tape to conform to any variations and textures of the frame and the wood panel. This stuff really holds well as shown in the video.

SILICONE MAT
I like this silicone mat, it protects my desk from paint and glue stains. It also works to protect my frames and paintings from damage when I place them face down on my desk. You can't cut on it but the cutting mat below works well for that

SELF HEALING CUTTING MAT
I use this cutting mat to protect my desk when I trimming canvas boards and other materials.

SILICONE ADHESIVE
I used this to adhere the 1/8" risers to the back of the 8x10 painting. It's more reversible than wood glue.
