Love your videos! Here are some controversial topics you could cover in a future video on hairtransplants: -When are grafts secured? The consensus seems to be after 10-14d but there are many outlier opinions -When should you remove scabs by gently massaging them? The consensus seems to be between 6-10 days but there are also doctors who recommend not to touch the grafts ever -When can exercise (calisthenics / weightlifting) be resumed? Consensus seems to be after 1 month. Again many outlier -What foods / medications should you abstain from before and after the transplant. Some doctors recommend abstaining from vitamins and protein supplements. Again other recommend the exact opposite. -How many grafts can be transplanted in one session to avoid scaring of the donor area? There seems to be consensus at around 3000 grafts but there again many outliers and documented cases of up to 5000 grafts with good results. -When can microneedling be resumed after hair transplant. Consensus seems to be anywhere between 4-6 months. Some advice to wait even longer.

It's great to have someone knowledgeable with real data to help everyone else out. appreciate all the post! I do have a questions if you wouldn't mind with your input as it seems you know more than my doc. I have been taking finasteride for 4 months. I purely wish to maintain as i only have recession on one side but it severe regression where the hair is gone and not just thinning ( if i can get growth that would be a plus obviously but I don't expect it to happen). Also I will preface this with that I agree support the use of fin and want to continue. 1. I am fit, work out every day and weigh 180 at 6'0" as i have since high school. My left peck has an increase of gland tissue which seems like gyno but not psuedogyno whatsoever . the right one does not. Is there a way to combat this? 2. This could be completely random. but I always have a beard ( short in length, more like stuble) but since about month 3 of fin i have a bald spot in my beard. Is that possible from fin or just random coincidence? I have pictures to show how dramatic the difference is. its about the size of a penny. Really odd. Other than that no sides to sexual health, everything else has been great and shedding has stopped, so i want to continue. Honestly would rather get Gyno surgery then stop taking fin so i can keep the hair. Thanks!!!

He probably wouldn't like what I have to say to be honest. I am not familiar with his channel, only glanced at it but there are already lots of communities and people like that online; Individuals who have lost the fight and now seek company to enforce their new found biases they use to feel better about their failures. I don't have anything against that but I don't view giving up on things that are important to people as a strong character trait and I do not respect other people who try to shame others into giving up fighting for what they believe in. Hair loss is a winnable fight and if your hair is important to you then you shouldn't let anyone shame you into giving up on that. Personally speaking saving my hair has dramatically improved my confidence and helped me in every aspect of my life both professionally and personally. I know had I listened to people like Baldcafe then the quality of my life today would be worse. Even if I managed to accept it and feel confident I know others would not treat me as well because appearance like it or not plays a big role in how people perceive and treat you.

@@finz5852 That's pretty funny. I often hear bald-acceptance people talk about how shaving your head and accepting baldness is a sign of confidence yet they have to constantly seek validation by bashing people who don't want to go bald and denying the reality that baldness is in fact a cosmetic defect. When people look good when they're bald its in spite of it, not because of it. If they really felt confident about how they looked they wouldn't have to go through such a strident effort to prove that bald looks good. People who look good tend to already know it and let that speak for itself.

Hey bro, do you happen to know about S-Equol ? There are many studies on this substance and it's said that S-Equol prevents DHT from binding to the Androgen receptors (AR). By doing this, DHT can't bind to the AR in the scalp too, thus being unable to affect the hair follicles. This substance is usually used to treat prostate issue and women hormone problem, but the way it works seems to make it a decent solution to MPB too. I'd love to hear your take on this. Thanks !

I wouldn’t discourage people from getting an FUT as there are actual benefits based off the type of hair that you have as well. I had an FUT recently and I swelled for 2 days and wasn’t in pain or on all types of meds. I wanted a FUE because I assumed that FUT was the cheap way out. But after talking to multiple doctors, with my type of hair, FUT was most promising. And the scar isn’t big at all. Other than that. Good video.

I looked at some of your earlier videos, and I see that your hairline has greatly improved. Would you mostly credit the hair transplants for that, or would you mostly credit fin/minox? Because I’ve on on oral minox for 1.5 months and I see no improvement in my hairline. Also, if you haven’t made a video on this already, I’d love to see one on scalp microblading. I think it’s terrible for bald people but pretty good to fill in spots and give the illusion of thicker hair. Thanks, and great video as always!

Thank you and yes, the hair transplant is 100 percent responsible for my gains on the hairline. Once your hairline is gone its pretty much gone so even though pharmaceutical options can be great for increasing density in existing areas and stopping further hair loss a hair transplant is pretty much the best thing we've got right now for restoring lost areas of the scalp. I have talked about that subject in some of my other videos and I pretty much agree with you. It can be used to touch up a bad transplant and fill in scar tissues from transplants or other things but it definitely looks bad on a bald scalp simply because hair is supposed to be three dimensional.

Kevin Mann thanks for the response! I actually had a transplant about 7 months ago for my hairline, but then about 3 months after the transplant I started rapidly shedding behind my hairline. So now I got a couple of thin nearly bald spots right behind my hairline. I was hoping that because the hair there is not completely gone that it can regrow with oral minoxidil. I know you don’t recommend oral minoxidil, but based of the studies I’ve seen it seems low dose has an acceptable safety profile and I’m willing to take the risk. Do you think there’s any chance the hair will regrow, or will I need another transplant? Thanks again

Starting with a fut or fue depends on the degree of male pattern baldness. I had a HT in 2019 l was 33 and l was Norwood 5 already so l had a fut and l succeeded to go back to a Norwood 2-3(in appearance). My surgeon told me that the use of finasteride is no longer strictly necessary because l had lost lots of hair but l still use an anti-androgen like Alfatradiol and a hair grow stimulant like minoxidil. Anyway l highly recommend HT, it changes your life.

Yeah, I think the quality of a hair transplant is going to come down to the talent of the surgeon as opposed to the extraction method. If you look at the before and after pictures of a talented doctor their FUE results will look the same as the FUT results, ultimately its just a harvesting method and I think FUE is good enough for most people and more widely available not to mention cheaper.

@haircafekevin
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I don't know who the hair specialist is but its probably better to see a doctor. Also, this shouldn't be seen as medical advice but to answer your question I'd say no. It is true that the mechanism behind finasteride is similar to saw palmetto but mechanism itself isn't always a good indicator of outcome so there could be far more things going on that we don't even see with the saw palmetto that wouldn't necessarily happen with finasteride. I have seen people for instance say dutasteride gave them so sides but saw palmetto did even though dutasteride is stronger than even finasteride. Definitely go see a doctor and if you're concerned about sides I'd ask about starting on a lower dose, even 0.25 mg/EOD has been shown to be effective.

Look up Joe Tillman The Hair Transplant Mentor on KZitem. Their are over half a dozen different punches available today to FUE including the robot. The robot or the punch is only as good as the person using it. Whether it's FUE/FUT/Robotic/manual, etc it all comes down to the skill of the surgeon. I would take a great strip surgeon such as Dr Jerry Wong compared to an ok FUE doctor any day of the week. The same too with FUE over strip. Over the past ten years advances in FUE have come a long way in keeping transection rates way down especially with DHI. There is so much that I could go on about. The most important thing is to DO YOU RESEARCH. If the best surgeon is on the other side of the planet then fly there to have the surgery. Over the course of your lifetime the time spent in flying, etc is mitigated by having a great result that you have forever. Thanks for sharing!

hi kevin, i just recently went to a hair specialist. He told me that finasteride will only work for the mid and back side of my hair and not the hairline. The whole reason I went on finasteride was to prevent my hairline from receding more. should I use minoxidil and topical finasteride as well?? or maybe switch to dutasteride? I need advice, lmk thank you and happy new year!!

Hey Kevin, just found your channel and had a question about something you've mentioned in older videos. You said that you've experienced regrowth using Minoxidil, but that if you could turn back time you wouldn't have started using it in the first place. I don't understand why that is, exactly. Too much upkeep? Could have regrown it another way? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding? Thanks.
@haircafekevin

Its just because minoxidil is a pain in the ass to use and it is ineffective as a standalone treatment because it doesn't address the underlying cause of hair loss which is DHT. Since minoxidil works differently than finasteride the gains I have made with minoxidil need to be maintained with minoxidil and even on finasteride if I stop minoxidil I will lose ground. I can get away with using it just once per day so its not super inconvenient but I would rather just take a pill and be done with it.
@alexs9285

@haircafekevin

I don't think it really does much of anything. There have been tests showing subjects with increased strength after several weeks of resistance training but that is going to happen to anyone who does heavy resistance training regardless of supplementation and even if it does improve strength it hasn't been shown to affect androgens in any significant way so it probably is safe to use.

Hey kevin, what are your thoughts on taking 0.5mg of finasteride in the morning and in evening to make up for the one 1mg but spread out?
@haircafekevin
4 жыл бұрын
Its not necessary in my opinion. 0.5 MG is enough and finasteride will keep your DHT low long enough that it doesn't to be used multiple times in one day.
@kvo99999
4 жыл бұрын
Kevin Mann i asked online doctors yet they said 0.5 will not be effective.. but i feel like you know more about this?
@haircafekevin
4 жыл бұрын
@@kvo99999www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10495374 Finasteride as you can see diminishing returns. Even 0.2 MG per day was shown to be not that much weaker than 5 MG daily which is why its the prescribed dose in many countries like Korea. I'd go ahead and follow your doctor's instruction but I don't think you need to worry about making the 1 MG/day dose. Only reduce your dose if you get sides on 1 MG and if 0.5 MG is responding well with you then you probably won't benefit much from taking that twice daily, just once daily would probably be good enough.

Hey, Kevin. I just started to take finesteride. But I am scared that it might ruin me with erectile dysfunction, impotency, and/or male breast cancer. I have watched almost all your videos. And you seem well researched. Should I be at all worried about this? The stuff one can read online scares me. Also, should I even consider topical minoxidil? I haven’t tried that. Finesteride is my first chemical choice. I think I am a Norwood 2a. I have a bit recession on my temples, thin hair at the front but everything else and my crown is still intact. I am considering getting a hair transplant. However, that’s only if i keep doing the finesteride. I feel like there’s no point in getting a hair transplant if I don’t use anything to stop the receding. I am stationed in NYC and have beem considering Dr. Wise for my surgery. Anyways, that’s all I have to say on the matter.
@Pwagismyname

Take a breath, a Norwood 2a is not a bad place to be at all. Finasteride will probably give you good enough results for you to be satisfied with. I was afraid of the side effects also but they’re pretty unfounded after considering this for a while, finasteride is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs in the country

Hey Kevin! question, Ive been on Fin 1mg/eod for about 3-4 months now and it seems like my hair fall is getting worse, I believe its shedding as it started around 2 weeks after I started and theres no sign of it stopping I still have a decent amount of hair in the front but its the crown thats starting show now. ( diffuse crown thinning ) I also derma roll once every week but I have not seen any progress with that. Is this shedding normal? or does that mean the drug isn't working on me? I looked around for answers on forums but people keep saying that as an oriental asian (Indian) Fin isn't good option for me and I should just hop on Dut instead, Im not sure if any of that is true? Any advice would be greatly be appreciated! Thank you for everything you are doing! Helps me believe that I can fight this fight before its too late!
@haircafekevin

Hey, you being Indian doesn't have anything to do with it. It sounds like a regular shed and it can take up to 6 months before it stabilzes so I wouldn't panic. I would give it at least a few more months and if things don't improve at all then you can consider upgrading to dutasteride or adding minoxidil.
