animator is my childhood dream but unfortunately didn't had a chance to study animation in college. but 8 years later, this year, i finally had a chance to train and study animation for free! Our mentor recommended your channel and its really worth it. thank you for this! hoping to finally be an animator soon!

I have come to this place and I wonder if I should go any further. In these videos, there is too much of you and not enough of the screen with the program to be seen. You can't see very well what's going on there. There are only snapshots. It is a big obstacle for a beginner. I watch this movie in slow motion and it's hard to keep up. All those who do courses (not only in animation) for beginners make one mistake - the cursor is not highlighted and sometimes you have to repeat a given sequence several times to find it on the screen to understand what is going on. This is very important for the learner. The lecture should be synchronized with the cursor movement. The learners are different, some catch the flight, others have to repeat a given sequence several times, some have already learned it somewhere, some have not. Please accept my comments positively. I would like to help you, me and other learners. Best wishes. Krzysztof from Poland.

Thank you for your valuable feedback! Some videos like the one you are actually commenting under are not meant as a software tutorial. Software will change again and again and I want to teach timeless principles and methods rather than software. But if you mean the Basics of OpenToonz video you are totally right. I will re-do it once OpenToonz 1.6 comes out, cut away less often and use more zooms and callouts. You might want to check out the Best Animation Exercise video tutorial. I think it is slow and focused enough to where you can see everything you might want to see: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2XmLyWmAn5xhZpw However, this actually is the biggest obstacle when learning animation. The phase where you have to learn not only what the most important buttons do, but also where they are. Two big challenges at once. You will notice though that you will have to use the same 5 buttons and keystrokes over and over again. It gets a lot easier once you created your first animation, because the next one requires you to press the same buttons and just improve your drawings and how they work together. I hope you will give my videos another chance. I work on them for many hours, days and weeks. Some of them where made before I had a Patreon so unfortunately I didn't always have the time to zoom in or highlight things as much as I wanted to in post - but this is getting better as this channel grows. I will keep your feedback in mind and hope that I can help you on your journey into the world of animation. All the best, Ferdinand
