Daniel. I don't know if you've kept tabs of Fionnán's work, but he's currently crowdfunding to release his second book along with a single Cask from Boann Distillery. This book is based on the work he did for his PHD thesis on Irish Whiskey. If you've interested in looking into the book project is called "Créatúr".

So glad you told this story over a Bushmills. My lone trip to Ireland was in 2007. It was the most memorable trip in my life. And one of the highlights of our visit was our tour of the Bushmills distillery, and we were sure to grab a bottle of their 12 year whiskey at the time.... Just glorious. Beyond that, Temple Bar in Dublin (during St. Patrick's Day!!!) was an absolute EXPERIENCE. We ended up staying at a castle hotel just south of the Cliffs of Moher, which ended up actually just being my friends that stayed there that night. My best friend forgot his passport on the OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY, so we had to drive the entire night, back to the northern side of the island, in the dark, pick up the passport, and then drive back, no gas station for miles, until we found the only one open at 6am as we almost ran out. Lol. Every second of the trip was a memory we will cherish our entire lives. And that bottle of Bushmills 12 year was the cornerstone of how we celebrated it when we got back to the states. I long to return to that enchanted country. So many other things we experienced that i cant fit here, and the people there are the most accommodating humans on the PLANET. Treated us like kings, just as you said. I love Ireland. Glad you enjoyed it too! 👍💯🇮🇪☘️

Fabulous story Daniel and also dovetails nicely with your story about always saying Yes. I am sure quite a few would have called it a night rather than going to Fionnan's apartment. But you said Yes. This Bushmills 12 is around the same price as my go to single malt Scotches. I generally buy one bottle at a time and when it is gone, get another that I like. Do you recommend making an investment into several bottles? how long will they last on the shelf if properly corked? 5 bottles bought at the same time will last as long (theoretically) as 5 bought consecutively. Is the variety worth the initial cost? What does the group think?
@WhiskeyVault
9 ай бұрын
I always like to have at least 3 to 5 totally different styles of whiskey and you could probably stop with that. You get a better and more interesting experience when you're able to AB compare between them and they will definitely last as long as if you bought them in consecutive order, as long as you're not constantly opening and closing them.
