I use a product called, 'COVER ALL' for my tires and that stuff is FANTASTIC! It sprays from an aerosol can like spray paint, but it doesn't come out in the form of foam and you don't wipe it... simply spray and go. I personally prefer my tires to look wet and this stuff achieves that look without looking streaky. It sprays on nice and even... again, like spray paint, and the shine lasts for a good 5 days.

The Tire stuff will work just as good as the pledge, you have to remember tires have pours and you should clean your tires thoroughly removing all dirt and grime before you apply any tire shining agent...plus instead of spraying the tire shine on the tires use a sponge and apply the tire shine heavily.. The main problem why your tires become dual is because after most people leave the car wash after they've applied tire shine they don't wait for the tire shine to soak in and the tire shine gets flung off the tires before it's had time to be absorbed into the the tire that's why after you've properly applied tire shine you want to wait at least 20 minutes before pulling out of the car wash.. On the subject a great substitute for black magic tire shine is 3M tire dressing it's thin so it soaks up faster in the tires pours and it resists rain very well too for a long lasting shine.

Everyone knocks the Black Magic Tire Wet, but I love it. Don't spray it directly on the tire, use an applicator. If you want a gloss, wet look, apply 2 coats. Let it dry before you drive. Done right, it looks great and lasts longer than any other dressing aside from the tire paints. It also repels dirt, brake dust and water extremely well.

To help maintain the black appearance of your tires, simply wash them with a water-based all-purpose cleaner or mild soap and a soft bristled brush. Tires contain an ingredient called antiozonant that protects tires from ozone in the air. An antiozonant is an organic material added to the rubber compounds that prevent or slows the deterioration caused by exposure to the elements and cracking. Today's rubber is designed intentionally in a manner that allows the antiozonant constantly to work its way to the outside of the tire and as such, continually keeps the outer surface and sidewall pliable and resistant to oxidation. If you would like to apply a tire dressing, be cautious because there are many different tire dressings on the market. It is recommended to use a water-based dressing. Some silicone or petroleum-based solvents or alcohol may cause premature cracking from accelerated aging process.

Yes we used pledge back in the 60s because there wasn't any tire shine products on the market. At least none that we knew of. We contacted a pledge representative and ask him what he thought about it when he got back to us he told us that he would not recommend this using it on the Vehicle tires, as over time it could cause the tires to crack and prematurely age. Has something to do with the chemical makeup between what pledge is made with and the rubber composition. So for what it's worth that's my two cents. Looks good though

Great video !! I do have a couple things you may wish to consider. Pledge is also available in a pump spray container, and I've found that the tire clean/shine foams are not nearly as messy as the pump spray version. One last mention is that Wesley's Bleach-White, recently sold to another company with a slightly different brand name, is the only actual white-wall and white-letter cleaner that i've ever come across that actually works and all it takes is a very light lick with a brush and the road grime just 'melts' away. I live out here in West Texas. Most products that you apply to your tires make the rubber look really good for a while until the wind blows hard and makes dirt stick to your tires. Then your tires don't look so good. I've put different products on my tires a long time but I apply it with a pad instead of spraying directly on the tires. I never leave my tires wet. Buff them with a microfiber towel. That way your tires will shine but won't be left wet to sling on your car. Works every time and you avoid have those greasy spots on the concrete from where the tire shine was sprayed on.

The Tire Magic says wet, so it should look wet. I do like the Pledge look much better. Another use for Pledge which was reccomended by a window and door business is to use it to lubricate the track on sliding doors such as those "patio doors", it works very well making the door slide much easier. Thanks for you tire test. Here is a tip so when you spray anything on your tires, drive on top of a piece of cardboard, spray tire move the car a bit, spray again the area that was on the bottom. The cardboard keeps the tire shine liquid from getting on your garage floor.

The F1 helps keep off break dust so easy weekly wipe down the rims and the shine. No product needed. Both tire shine and weals clean up last 3 weeks. I use Maguires gold class wax 2 coats once a year and wash it weekly with armor all car wash. The wax last threw winter with 2 coats. As long as you wash it regularly.

Good tip. I have, in the past used Armor all low gloss because it made the tires look like new tires as they came from the factory. But I can't find it anywhere they may have stopped making the low gloss. I don't like the greatest look.

kudos to you , for questioning the status quo on tire dressing...I might try some Pledge. However, while I don't dress my tires often, when I do I spray it on and then give it a quick wipe with a rag to be sure it does not shoot all over the fenders. And if you're going to do a proper 'study' on tire shine, why not check other products, and methods. Still, I look forward to trying Pledge! thanks much for shaking things up ; )

Use a tire foam, works the same spray on and walk away no mess and a deep wet shine. I use Maguires deep tire shine foam. Looks great and lasts for a long time.

Gels are absolutely the best for tire shines. They protect, last way longer than any product on the market. Pledge is cool an all.. but real old school folks, used baby oil!

Use a tire and wheel brush to apply tire shine. I use one brush to clean wheel and another one to apply tire shine. works great with any brand of tire shine. I try and use pledge next time I need to treat tires. Thanx for video.

I've been using Pledge® on my Harley's in between washes for years. Takes bugs off the paint and chrome and it makes the windshield repel water and bugs. A lot cheaper than the other brand name "detail" products at auto parts stores.

I'll tell you this first off you need to get a thin bristle brush a wide brush and use it to work the compound into the tire. Pledge looks pretty decent but black magic 100% better just needs to be applied better. 👍 Zero rags brush brush brush or maybe even micro fiber sponge does pretty good too

It looks great but Pledge can make braking less effecient since its a lubricant. It can be dangerious ! Your brake way can slightly diffirence and may couse accidents
