Hey, nice to see someone starting out and having success... That said, could of things I felt compelled to correct you on, regarding these units. First of all, tp-link deco series fan here, I own an older set myself. So, the 2.5g is talking about support for 2.5Gbit ethernet input (from your internet service provider- has nothing to do with the wifi radio frequency) 2nd item (important) - wifi 6e supports newest unlicensed spectrum between 5.925-7.125ghz which unlike other mesh systems, deco can use the 6ghz band for backhaul instead of using upper or lower 5ghz - meaning that it frees up 5ghz from being used for backhaul enabling it to smart switch and distribute connected devices over 2 5ghz bands plus 2.4ghz for legacy devices or hard to reach places... Unless you have a 6ghz enabled device, your device can't connect to this unit over 6ghz. You should mention that if you're connecting any of these systems to an ISP router (and not directly to their modem) you NEED to switch the deco system to "AP Only" mode (access point) so that you are not double natted (double natting refers to putting to network address translating routers in line - which causes your devices not to be able to properly reach the internet and services like auto-detection for cameras and other systems like gaming consoles or computers to be reached by systems on the internet - which is BAD)... if you have an option to bypass the ISP router - this is always the best option, because the deco router services are top of class for managing connected devices... Anyway, just thought you and your viewers should know... I ALWAYS recommend this series to all persons and businesses (especially home or small office) seeking to improve wifi performance and experiences...

Chris do you know if this unit supports separate SSIDs and or if it has a separate wireless backhaul channel?
@iam2loki4u
2 жыл бұрын
@@DarienAllen By "seperate SSIDs" do you mean between the bands or do you mean "primary & guest" networks? I'll answer this way - It does have seperate Primary & Huest SSIDs - but as it is TRUE Mesh - it does NOT have seperate identifiers for each band class - that would require 4 SSIDs (2.4/5.4/5.8/6) Instead it uses 1 unified SSID for ALL bands and allows an optional Guest Network to keep guests from accessing your shared devices and data on your network. I'll speculate you may have had issues with older 2.4 only wifi gear - and yes, this can be a hassle - but only 1x. In order to connect legacy 2.4 only gear, you sometimes need to shut down the other bands (5ghz is treated like 1 despite being two subbands within it) - so you shut it and 6 down and connect your device - once connected you then reactivate the other bands. This works well. All can be done from the mobile application for Deco.

The reason your wired backhaul is roughly the same speed as everything else is because this system uses that new 6 GHz channel for the back hall which is actually faster or more capable than the one gigabit port you're using from the main router to connect to the secondary router both of those ports are only one gigabit ports

XE75 is a great mesh. I use Verizon home Internet and their gateway sucks at WiFi coverage. I put it into bridge mode for the Deco to step in and handle the WiFi setup. It's amazing, it gives me speeds that I was only getting when connected directed via Ethernet, and it resolved latency issues as well.

Could you please provide me with the number of devices currently connected to your network? I'm using a gigabit line from my provider, but I'm experiencing significant drops in performance due to their standard MESH setup, which seems to be of subpar quality.

On a 1.5GB connection through only one XE75 mesh point ive seen 650-720mbps with 0 clients devices on it and 550-600mbps with 103 client devices on it.With a second XE75 mesh point on wireless 50 ft and 2 walls away the speed is still the same 550-600mbps.The second mesh point is always faster when the 6ghz is used for backhauling only.

I tried the Deco XE75 Pro one thing I didn’t like about it is that is the 6GHz band is that you have to select the wireless backhaul/ WiFi mode and it changes the SSID and when you do that Apple Air Drop will not work. I tried changing it to the same SSID when I do that my 6GHz device only connect to the 5GHz band. They will connect to the 6GHz band if it is a different SSID name. I took it back and got the eero pro 6e and it rock solid and great speed on my Wi-Fi 6e devices. Uses the same SSID for all bands.

Thank you, great video. I just subscribed to your channel. Quick question, the 2.5 GHz port, is that to plug it into the ethernet in the wall for the backhaul? I’m thinking of upgrading from 1 gig to 2 gig Internet speed and want to know the optimal set up. I do have ethernet cables in my wall. Thank you so much.

What's the difference between the XE 75 PRO vs the XE 75? Is it just that the pro version has 2.5GB ethernet ports vs only having gigabit ethernet ports? Are there other differences?
@GivemChills

I think the only other difference might be the coverage & number of devices connected at the same time too. just a little better.
@soccerstudut

@@GivemChills I believe both claim the same Sq footage of coverage range and up to 200 devices. I also asked someone in tech support for tp link. They said the only difference between the XE75 & the XE75 PRO is the 2.5 GB ports on the back of the routers as opposed to the 1GB ports. I don't really need more than a GB so the Pro version is unnecessary for my home. I just wanted a reliable connection with great range and both are equals in that regard. The pro is a lot more expense for ports that are way more than I'll ever need. I bought 4 or 2 pairs of the regular XE 75 units and they are working great at my house. They will cover everything in my larger house when I move as well.

If DECO is the best for you, then you didn't try yet the NETGEAR ORBI WiFi 6E. As I've tried what you got, and it can't beat the latest Netgear Orbi (it's just more expensive, but it's worth it). Orbi turned out to be total garbage for me. It would drop devices (even the iPhone 14 Pro Max) left and right. There was actually a drop/reconnect when walking between mesh zones. The zones were overlapping and not too far apart. In fact, Eero Pro was about 100x better in connectivity.
