I was so surprised to see my Land's End Parka in your video! While I live in FL now, I grew up in WI and visit friends and family there often. I can personally vouch for its warmth, coziness, function, and quality. I have owned my red parka for about 8 years and it has seen me through many a snowy, windy nighttime football game and snow angel session! ⛄ It has tons of pockets for hands, gloves, lip balm, credit cards/cash, etc. The front can zip up over the nose if necessary and also has a removable hood. It has other thoughtful features like an extra strong hanging loop and Velcro straps around the wrist if you want the sleeve extra tight. I actually look for reasons to wear this coat each winter it is so cozy (and it comes in a wide array of sizes). Lands End have great sales and you can get these parkas for a great price! It's supposed to get into the 20s in FL this week, so I may break out the parka for a nighttime walk to view Christmas lights. Happy Holidays to all! ❄🌴

Erin you once gave the suggestion of a S13 jacket as an affordable alternative to SAM. It is and I am happy to say I still have that navy jacket similar to the one you are styling today. Please continue to give us those price sensitive options. I’ve been a fan of your for a long time now. I’m from northern NY and yes we know cold.

Hello from Chicago! Tomorrow will be -1 degrees. I love your winter outfit videos! I did order 2 Herno puffers last year, but I had total buyer's remorse. Yes, they were lovely, but I could not come to terms with the price tags. Another option for similar coats of the Sam brand are S13. I bought an S13 puffer last year at Marshalls (TJ Maxx also carries them), and it is the same as Sam (very stylish, functional, and warm), for around $199 instead of $500-$1500. I have not bothered with Canada Goose because they are not flattering on me, but also they are highly counterfeited, and too much with their logo, which to me screams their name, but I always think it is a fake. I see too many people walking around in those coats. Everyone has one it seems. Happy Holidays!

Definitely check out Point Zero which is a Canadian brand. The puffer jackets are all under $300, which admittedly is still over budget for many ladies. Most of their puffers have feminine or modern detail and some are rated up to -40°. I have purchased the Imogenna parka which has vegan leather details that actually gives me a defined waist. Not an easy feat when you are a curvier lady like me!

My warmest coat is a thigh-length puffer from Uniqlo. Bought it on a whim on my lunch break at work 8 years ago, and it’s still going strong! I think it was $99. Definitely budget-friendly. I have so many gorgeous wool coats that I rarely wear. I agree they’re just not as warm. My other favorite coat is a pinkish-mauve faux fur that I got from Nordstrom Rack. (Can’t remember the brand). It’s fairly warm. I always get questions and compliments when I wear it. I appreciate the brand suggestions. Off to go check some of them out! 😁

Thank you for this coat guide dear Erin! My absolute favorite piece you showed was the blue fake fur coat. Such a gorgeous color. I bought a quite similar coat this year, but in a burgundy color. Also love it and wear it quite often because even in jeans, you look instantly glamorous. And it's sooooo cozy. I live in a rather moderate climate and a wool coat often does the job. I always buy them roomy enough that I could wear a Blazer underneath. And for more casual occasions, I have a short and a long puffer coat, both very warm for low temperatures. Actually most of my outerwear is from a UK brand called Boden. They have a nice quality and colorful designs.

What drives me crazy is why more winter coats don't have a cinched waist built in. Years ago I had the most beautiful white CK down coat. It had a large elastic panel at the waist that cinched it in and looked amazing. I wore that one out and haven't seen such a good coat since. So many styles are made so boxy and shapeless. I know that's a "look" but it's not flattering on most of us.

I live in Poland so 10 Fahrenheit and lower is nothing unusual here. I have been freezing in a puffer coat and couldn’t stay out for long. What can work is a cable knit jumper with some wool content, it helps, but the best I’ve found is a sheepskin coat or jacket. If cut well, they are super feminine and elegant. A very close second is faux sheepskin or the shearling jacket. Fabric that looks like faux suede is better as it breathes rather than the faux leather version. I wore that out hiking for over two hours and was toasty warm.

Hi Jennifer! The thing with real vs faux furs and leathers, is that it is such a personal decision to make. Personally, I'm looking for sustainable faux materials that are excellent quality. But I also think older, quality fur coats like yours should be used if you love it. There is no good in having it hang in your closet and never be used, or worse, thrown away while it is still full of so much use to you. No one will be able to tell by looking at it what it's actually made of, and you should ALWAYS wear the things that you love. Wishing you the BEST time on your trip! What a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year! xo

Can I suggest to see more bohemian styles of coats like penny lane style shearling coats, feeling fabulous doesn't always meant luxury, but would love to see more alternative styles like bohemian chic and edgy types....combo of modern bohemian chic, steampunk, Gothy, fairy tales sounds that's fun too! but in a luxurious way

Mackage makes gorgeous and very well-made wool jackets. Mine lasted 11 years and I wore it almost every day in winter. It's still in good shape I gained weight. I'm keeping it for my daughter.

I’m not used to cold anymore. We moved from Ohio to Georgia for the warmth. But we won’t be getting that the end of this week. I bought a puffer coat when we moved here. I’ve always worn parkas, to keep the butt warmer. I gave them all away. But I do have a nice puffer. I don’t care if I look like the Michelin Man. I want to be warm.

Per my email: 32 inches of snow doesn't mean cold. It means snow. Not the same 🤷♀️

You're right! In the 30s here lately really has not felt too cold. But I lived in the coldest, snowiest part of the US for many, many years of my life, so I'm happy to share tips for the cold weather! Winter coats and jackets are so important when you live in those cold climates. xo

I purchased the Milly cobalt blue faux fur from Saks but had to return it. As a 36DD it just made me look massive on top. 😢 Sad as I really loved it.
