@@teresaeskra Alrighty then! Timekeeper by Tara Sim is an alternate history steampunk fantasy set in a world where time is controlled by magic clock towers. If clocks break, time breaks, and if the clocks stop completely, their area is frozen in time and cut off from the rest of the world. Danny Hart is a clock mechanic, someone with the ability to repair time, who wants to join the project to build a new clock tower to free the town of Maldon, where his father is trapped, which has never been attempted before. Unfortunately Danny is suffering from PTSD after an accident, and the lead mechanic is unwilling to give him any serious responsibilities. Danny is assigned to fix Colton tower in Enfield, where he falls in love with a time spirit, which is illegal. Meanwhile terrorists are bombing the clocktowers and stopping time. There are three books. Loka Legends by Jay Bell is an own voices high fantasy set in a world ruled by the Oligarchs, people who guard crystals of elemental power called Lokas. Someone starts assassinating the Oligarchs and taking their Lokas. After scrying to find out what to do, the Blue Oligarch gives his Loka to his son, Dylan, and sends him to stay with Tyjinn, the Red Oligarch, for protection. Things don't quite go according to plan. There are two books, the first is called The Cat in the Cradle. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell I'm sure I don't have to explain. Didn't like the second book, but the first works well as a standalone. Wonders of the Invisible World by Christopher Barzak is an own voices urban fantasy set in the small, sleepy town of Temperance, Ohio. It follows a boy called Aidan Lockwood, who is just sort of drifting through life. He has no friends, or really any hobbies, interests or ambitions. Then his best childhood friend, Jarrod, returns to Temperance after a long time away in Cleaveland, and rekindles his relationship with Aidan. And he starts talking about things that Aidan doesn't remember, but definitely should, like the strange man in the black suit that only Aidan could see. They team up to get Aidan's memories back, and along the way they discover the history of the Lockwood family. The Rules and Regulations for Mediating Myths & Magic by F. T. Lukens is an urban fantasy about a boy named Bridger Whitt, who, in an attempt to get a job, ends up as an apprentice to a wizard who mediates between the magical and non-magical worlds. Meanwhile, Bridger is dealing with a crush on his neighbour, a hot football player named Leo. Also the Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, which I'm also sure I don't have to explain.

I’m wigging at the amount of comments recommending After by Anna Todd. Toxic relationship, internalized misogyny, slut-shaming, obnoxiously cyclical plot...whew. It’s just as problematic as the Kissing Booth or 50 Shades of Grey. If it started as a fanfic or a wattpad story that usually is an indicator that it’s gonna be problematic as hell

It’s popular for a reason. Maybe it’s problematic for the minority and the majority enjoy it. Weren’t these crowdfunded because so many people like it? Plenty of “acceptable” romance books are actually problematic for others. To each their own.

I recommend Five feet apart by Rachael Lippincott it's really good and a movie adaptation came out in March. It follows two cystic fibrosis patients Stella and Will who meet and fall in love. It's kind of a case of opposites attract. The catch in the story is that since both of them have cf they have to stay 6 feet apart at all times cause of the risk of cross infections. It's about them getting through this obstacle. It is a really sad, hopeful, and inspiring story and I definitely recommend it!💜

Two good YA romance novels are: The List by Siobhan Vivian- the way it’s written is a little weird, but once you read the 1st couple chapters it’s pretty good. It’s a quick read, and has some pretty real concepts going on. Overview of The List: Every year at Mount Washington High School somebody posts a list of the prettiest and ugliest girls from each grade--this is the story of eight girls, freshman to senior, and how they are affected by the list. #2: Burn for Burn trilogy by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian- reminds me of Heathers, and is probably one of my fave YA romances of all time! Overview: Postcard-perfect Jar Island is home to charming tourist shops, pristine beaches, amazing oceanfront homes-and three girls secretly plotting revenge. KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend. LILLIA has always looked out for her little sister, so when she discovers that one of her guy friends has been secretly hooking up with her, she’s going to put a stop to it. MARY is perpetually haunted by a traumatic event from years past, and the boy who’s responsible has yet to get what’s coming to him. None of the girls can act on their revenge fantasies alone without being suspected. But together…anything is possible. With an alliance in place, there will be no more “I wish I’d said…” or “If I could go back and do things differently...” These girls will show Jar Island that revenge is a dish best enjoyed together.

i highly recommend the “After” series by Anna Todd! ⚠️ BUT!!!! it has A LOT of sexual scenes that go into very specific detail. Definitely recommend 16+ .Although there is a lot of those types of scenes, the story is amazing and the amount of lust and love made me absolutely fall in love with the series.

Love Wanderlost, glad someone else has read it and enjoyed it. I love Morgan Matson but Amy and Rodger's is the only book of hers I have yet to read, my favourite of hers (having not read Amy and Rodger's) is the Unexpected Everything. OnE underrated quick YA romance I would recommend to you and other readers would be Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally! The description seems really cheesy, which the book can be, but it really doesn't showcase how good the book actually is. Would recommend that one!! :)

speaking of Fangirl, i would definitely include Carry On in this list! it is obviously more than a romance (as it has a lot of action/fantasy and coming-of-age elements), but the enemies-lovers trope is amazing and it’s a lot of great LGBTQ+ representation!
