The owners seem to have the anti-Midas touch. They clearly thought "we'll buy young technically gifted players and at worst we'll break even if they don't work out as just being at Chelsea will add value to them. Nothing can go wrong if we sign them to 8 year contracts as that will just mean the value of these stars remains high". They didn't seem to realise that young players might suffer from not being able to adapt to a new country, handle pressure, need experienced players to help them reach their potential or just have general off the field problems that would cause their value to drop. At this point with half the team probably going to mutiny if Enzo comes back they either have to sell him for a huge loss or face losing half the team. They must be pinning all their hopes on selling Cole Palmer to PSG for a ridiculous fee. As you rightly point out this is the kind of thing that happens when a hedge fund thinks of young human beings as assets rather than people

Yoro feels like what saliba is to arsenal I remember arsenal signed him and as I recall I was very happy with the signing. I knew he wouldn’t be starting at arsenal and I was relatively happy he was loaned back to ligue 1 to gain more experience; I remember he gave Mbappe a hard time and I think we knew what we were getting. If you can’t tell I am an arsenal fan. But as much as I dislike United, I do feel that they are finally doing the right transfer decisions relatively with the player profiles, but I don’t think paying 60-70 million for a centre back who isn’t even 20 is a bit too much of a gamble, yes he has potential, however he’s also at risk of injury, and based of how uniteds defensive injury crisis went last season, another injury crisis like that and I think it could majorly impact him physically. I must also add that Williams is good, I’d love to see him in the prem, realistically a team like Westham or arsenal would suit him best, he’d be rotated well; given a good amount of minutes and be a crucial player

I know they can loan to whichever club they want and I know in reality Strasbourg can’t fix all of Chelsea’s over staffing problems, but the message in videos or pieces like these is that “it’s okay that they’ve gone mad and bought 100 players because they’ve sold it to the players that they will get games in the wider network of clubs”. JJ said it himself after introducing 5 forward players Chelsea had bought all of whom now need games. Those 5 didn’t include the other half dozen forwards already on the fringe of the squad while they continue to look to buy a striker (Broja, Jackson, Mudryk, etc.). Chelsea had tried this tactic of buying up all the world’s young talent and farming them out on load for 15+ years yet Abramovic lost £100m / year on average across his ownership of the club. Boeley and co are doing the same tactic but being talked about like geniuses because they happen to also own a few other small clubs (ask Vitesse how that went for them btw)
@InvaderZim742

@@FishFighterFred firstly. It's irrelevant what the media say about clearlake. Secondly, Roman never ran the club as a business. It was a toy to him and he didn't care how much money he lost. He ran it on a much higher wage bill which is the majority of a clubs outgoings. Funny how that never gets talked about. People also seem to forget that Chelsea sell as many players as they buy. Players join to be part of a big club. If they're good enough they will play for Chelsea. If not, they will play on loan or be sold and go elsewhere. Just like every other club on earth. Chelsea just do it on a bigger scale than most. Try not to be too salty about it.
