You're looking at it from your perspective. BMW's management is looking at it from the global perspective. And globally, you are not the focal point for them any more. The really weird thing is, whenever BMW is asked about it's design direction, they always seem to imply that the designs were customer lead, and the new cars reflect what people want. But then with every new BMW launched over the last 5 years or so, it seems like 80% of the feedback is very negative. There is clearly some strange disconnect happening there.

The new Z looks decent, except for the grill. It looks like the designer made most of it but couldn't decide on a grill so put in a rectangle as a placeholder and went home for the day. His boss came in and saw it on his screen and decided to push it to the marketing department, assuming it was finished. By the time the designer came in to work the next day, the placeholder grill was plastered in all the ads, so they couldn't change it once it's out. And whilst I would prefer the bonnet length was slightly shorter; personal niggle, I pray they don't alter its appearance, though I feel they could do some restructuring to the dash. With regards to the iX Bembli, but doesn't it echo; not a designer so bare with me, some i3 DNA. And whilst keeping the headlights, couldn't BMW have incorporated an i3 inspired grill, and how would you have designed it. BMW have stated that the new large grills are necessary to hide the technology on their electric cars. If true then why hasn't Tesla adopted them. And could someone please explain the new 2 series and the length of that bonnet. There is something classical about its design; which I love, but it's wrong. And what is the issue with the interior design structure to their fleet. Each model range should have their own interior design that should never be replicated. It felt no need to shout what it was. What made it special was that people knew what it was, a well-engineered car that would do its job and then some. It gave you everything you needed to fulfil its function. To get you from point A to point B safely and quickly in reasonable comfort at an affordable price. very simple, italian made the design of godlen era (also chris studied and worked in italy - but most important he recognised that he was the director but angelo created E60 design.

L have a 2017 330e. I think its the best looking one they ever made. I also liked the really old ones that had the 'greenhouse glass' if you know what I mean. The latest ones are ugly and the ones before the era of my car looked like they were angry-I didn't like.

The 2005 m5 once was called the ugliest car ever by Jeremy Clarkson . Few years later he said it was the best in its class. People don’t like change at the beginning

Thanks for your video and your opinion on the BMW design. I was lucky enough last week to drive the new BMW iX and and loved everything about this car. The design is awesome and reflects a very modern philosophy. I love it. It is not uniform like all other cars.

Bmw used to have big grills even bigger than today especially the first ones then they went small and back to big

And guess what? What was the most beautifull BMW we have seen in this video? Yes indeed, the M3 on his t-shirt

The fact is that more and more people want their vehicle to look big and agressive on the road. The latest BMW models reflects this. Nobody wants a beautiful car anymore except those with money and those with taste.

I thought this video was going to speak about all the problems that are just getting worse as the cars progresses… I almost purchased an X5 but once I looked up problems, I went with a Honda Pilot. I not sure not saved 3k on down payment but monthly payments $300 less. I’ve had it for 6 months not a problem.

I totally agreed with you bro! I believe this major designing problem began by “Cucky Bangle” who did ruin the BMW’s character essence successfully, during an ugly race with his competitor in M.Benz (Wagoner)! Those 2 Guys and their designing philosophy + their successors, literally have failed!😖🤨 🧐But there’s no doubt that the uninterrupted increasing of model types or the monthly facelift strategies which has been followed from these giant Car makers recently, also has its own effect in this tragedy!…

I have to disagree with some things. I am not a designer, but I know what looks good to me. All of those you've shown in the intro look ugly to me, but then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my opinion, F series are beautiful cars and G30 (especially LCI) looks absolutely amazing, most beautiful thing I see on the road! I agree about the other models though, don't know what they were thinking with huge grills and ultra thin taillights on the back. I find myself really liking big taillights on all cars. An exception to this is G20, it looks gorgeous with thin ones, I think it is due to that kind of transparent looking part.

I find the new M4 beautiful... I can understand why people who grew up with the small kidneys wouldn't like it but after all the new grills look fresh and functional, something like we've never seen before.

I worked at BMW Münich plant for a month. And the company now is a mess. They have existential crisis, spread company propaganda and tbh they focus on Chinese market the most atm. All these modern BMWs are designed after the Chinese market. I used to be a huge fan of BMW. Have had few E46s and one E92. But the modern BMW i just, hate from bottom of my heart. They still make great engines (like the one in current Supra). That's all they do anymore.

What big problem? Yesterday the Caldwell reverse was to reverse the E from the outdoor wheel base which slipped so then they used recovery reverse at local mot garage today to make E sausage slip which was foiled with situations I can't say because of sauce censorship Didn't the merry Christmas van at Solihull light clean me now clean change the back brakes situation from a different garage which made them steel John wicks car 😭 BMW going jail for stealing my car and locking the breaks Start up garage situation Tinkerbell alarm sauce from this morning 😭

I remember Clarkson (yes, I know... it's Jezza) said something really interesting and it seems kinda true. Back then, when you saw a BMW, your think was "wow, the owner must be some successfull person in his/her field". But now, you see a BMW and it feels like "It must be a jack*ss with a big debt to pay the BM". Design language can say a lot of stuff. And BMW with this new design... language (translated with Google Translate between models) lost that sport and elegant stuff.

Exactly my thinking of why bmw is losing potential. Yet I remember one time, it’s been said that bmw is not really meaning to make all their models similar… whoever came up with that statement rightfully has no belonging to that brand. Rn, I only like the 5 series at this point.
