The United Kingdom has a very specific relationship with reggae over the past 30+ years. (Edit: more like 50+ years. Partially beginning with the 1972 film "The Harder They Come". Vinyl was often pressed in the uk, from Jamaican tape, then sold in the uk AND shipped backed to Jamaica for the dancehall parties. That is one of my most favorite bits of music history knowledge. And a more full version of that story is absolutely amazing. So many goats and awesome players.

@@nem447 Medleys and what not has been mainstream for a long while. What is impressive about Ren is his respect for music history and absurd levels of skill in the genres he dabbles in. Perhaps the sample culture and dj culture gave him a leg up also. He can remix songs almost on the fly, yet with all original sound(and with a band or beatmaker). That is definitely impressive af.

Ren is a member of "The Big Push;" it is not his band. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Their covers of "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong” are awesome. On “These Boots Are Made For Walking,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. The band, at least for the time being, performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September of last year (2022) due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo specialized medical care and surgeries for his multiple health issues. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake),” and his latest release "The Illest Of Our Time," just to name a few. Ren's performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity,” “Feeling Good/Trouble So High/Masterblaster (Jammin'),” “Latch,” “What Went Wrong” Part I&II) are definitely a must. Also, his collaborations with Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), Orlean ("Jessica"), his former bandmate Romain Axisa (“French Song”), are all great. Last but not least, Ren’s busking sessions with Liv Sangster are awesome. I recently discovered that Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful.

Alright! You’ve finally worked your way to another Ren reaction! I’m not sure but I think this may be only your second or third Ren reaction. Just so you know, this means that at best, big man, you’ve only dipped your big toe down into the very deep and diverse Ren rabbit hole. I’m sure other Ren song requests have been flying in, but your next Ren reaction should depend on what vibe you are looking for, storytelling, upbeat singing, ballads, political commentary, rap and/or hip hop. He does it all. I think you would really appreciate Ren and his buddy Sam Tompkins busking out “Earned It / It’s a Man’s World / Falling”.

I'm so happy you got to see him with his band, I knew you would love this experience. This is one of my favorite day's of the band busking. They were playing 🔥🔥all day. Here are the other clips of that set in order of how the played these songs. After "I Shot The Sheriff" they played The Big Push - War Pigs (Black Sabbath cover) kzitem.info/news/bejne/wrB3qm2Bfmt5fno Ren starts joking to the audience that after that nice massage with the reggae that the band should give them a nice kick in the face with some Black Sabbath lol. then they played an original single that they had just released. The Big Push - Watch Out (live busking) kzitem.info/news/bejne/2WaPtoZqsIpjpZw by the time they played this the street was closed off by the police because so many people had come to see them. Enjoy. Happy B-day to Ren and congrats on the release of his new single "illest Of Our Time". And praying his treatments are working and going well in Canada. Cheers

Ren has a massive following in Brighton and films all his videos in the Brighton area. Watching him feels really special. Instantly you know he is a once in a life time talent, I put him along side prince and Freddy. I grow up hanging out on theses streets and raving my weekends away. It’s a hot bed of alternative, creative, offbeat musicians, artists and artisan shops. It has an amazing hippy vibe, high quality graffiti everywhere, and a great night life. Sadly like all city’s it has a seeder dark underbelly of drugs, poverty driven crime and homelessness. Still love the place! Much love ❤🇬🇧
