Isn't it strange how star quality just shows itself almost instantly. Your eyes are immediately drawn to Judy. She exudes a confidence and assuredness in her flairs and flourishes that her sisters do not possess. I find it fascinating.

The 7-year -old legendary adorable, very pretty, extremely talented Judy Garland who was billed as Baby Gumm at the time exudes confidence and assuredness in her flairs and flourishes and so do her two older sisters! I love this!

I wish the sound was better, but it was filmed in 1929, so what do you expect? Was Frances Gumm/Judy Garland yelling "Yes sir!"?

@1:07 it was not unusual during this era when they would exploit these children to have the kids do seductive little things like in this scene where their already way too short dresses are showing everything but still taking it one step further. It was very creepy and you can tell at this point with these girls they know that this whole fluffing up the skirts is kinda weird and that they probably shouldn't be doing it and they are uncomfortable. Shirley Temple repeated her distaste and discomfort more than once in her 2 part autobiography that the dresses they made her wear NEVER came close to being modest and were quite ridiculous.

MaskedMan66 I disagree. As I was watching I noticed that the older girls, especially the oldest, seemed reluctant to pull up her dress and were trying to barely do those moves. Might have been out of shyness or because the moves are childish. Either way, I think they were uncomfortable and the viewer can pick up on it.

According to Google, The oldest sister, Mary Jane, turned into a alcoholic, and in May 1964 she committed suicide, she was only 48. The middle sister Virginia, died in 1977, but it wasn't never clear how she died. Virginia had a daughter, Judy Gail "Judaline," with her husband, musician Bobby Sherwood.

It’s kind of sad. Not one of the Gumm sisters lived past sixty. So it’s sort of surreal to see them here as little girls. It sounds like they had a very troubled upbringing, and with the oldest dying of suicide after alcoholism and Judy of an overdose... I just hope they’re all at peace now.

I love this! of course now we have Simon Cowell attitudes and Trump manners.and this would be stopped before baby gumm even came out. But let me see you get your 7yo to be this disciplined and choreographed. I love the way she tapped out with the perfectly straight back she always had to the end. You need to watch her in Bubbles YESSAH! btw her parents were destitute before she was born and tried to abort her. Makes one believe G_ds got a plan and there is no way to stop it
