In 1996, a US Olympic committee review of East German secret police documents revealed evidence of judges being paid to vote for South
Korean boxers. In 1997, the IOC found the offending judges were bribed by South Korean organizers. Despite the scandal, IOC refused to overturn the decision, banning 2 of the judges for life and updated the scoring system.
