@@MatthiasBuesing the bike physics are just not realistic, the rear wheel spins way too easily, as does the front wheel come up. In lower gears (on real bikes) you'd have to be pretty aggressive with the throttle, in higher gears you can be aggressive with the throttle without the wheel spinning, or doing a massive wheelie. They also do stopoies way to easily in game too. Rims Racing is much better, but only about 8 bikes, very well detailed though and you can upgrade everything and fit them yourself. You can adjust the sensitivity of every control, throttle, brakes, front and rear, steering etc. Hopefully they will bring out another game, improving that further and bringing more bikes.

As a real life motorcyclist, IMO the steady head cam is more accurate than a shaky head cam. Onboard cams shake, but the view of the rider is much steadier because our eye doesn't move as much, and our brain compensates for the little shake we do get. So TECHNICALLY I say steady first person view is more accurate.

brutal honestly? as someone who has played every single Ride game. This one is a large step backwards. Lots of features that were in older games were taken out, the bike list is stale, the type of racing is stale, and while I haven't had enough time with the career mode to really judge it, I don't have much faith in it being better structured than Ride 4. The series peaked content wise with Ride 3. Ride 4 was a step backwards to improve the core product, but Ride 5 inexplicably seems a further step backwards. I'm dissappointed, and I fear Milestone have too many games on their plate between Hot Wheels, MotoGP, SBK and Ride, and all the games (besides maybe hot wheels) have become stale as a result

As a long time fan from this franchise, the only thing I always wished to be developed with care is the AI... in R4 it wasn't really bad... there is only that thing about one of the AI riders being a kamikaze that randomly will ram at you even if you go all the way out of their line. I saw in some replays the AI going all the way out of it's line just to crash at my bike. A complete immersion break and the only reason why I always race at chase cam and with rewind on. Anyway... R5 is at my wish list just waiting for a lot of updates and a price reduction. I wish that you and other virtual racing dedicated channels do more videos about bike racing games. Cheers!

Two Stroke Road Racing Motorcycles all blow smoke and sometimes oil. If you have no oil on your visor, you haven't been racing hard enough. I miss all the two stroke road bikes, the RD, KR, RZ, RG and the NSR, they were all absolute rockets. Then there was the Kawasaki H2 750 Mach IV Triple - Chainsmoker, a two stroke widow maker. This thing had way too much power and a rubber frame, most normal people couldn't ride it or get the best out of it. The few that could usually ended up on the tarmac anyway, the bike was that bad. I'm in the middle of building a motorcycle sim rig, I have most of the controls sorted, I just have the gear changer to sort out. I may attempt adding motion at some stage, I just need to win the lotto to pay for it. Thanks for the look at Ride 5, I'll get it as soon as it's on sale.

Real shame they haven't sorted the AI. By far the worst element of Ride4, which I played the hell out of. Like that they've increased the grids - as you say, an endurance race with the tiny number of other riders was dull as hell and it'd be better if they could get even more in, but only if the AI is improved. As for Sim/Arcade, as someone who rides sportsbikes and occasionally tracks them too, I don't get the point of super accurate PC sims for motorcycling. With car stuff, you can accurately represent the control inputs even if you're missing the G force. With a bike, the nuances of weight placement, how you apply force to each contact point and the physical interaction of your weight with the bike weight transfer are so intrinsic to how it works, even with a full bike and hydraulic leaning rig, you can't simulate that. So something like this that tries to get the reactions of the bike/rider platform pretty close, with how you have to fudge the input for it to make sense on a controller in a static environment, seems to me to be the sweet spot.

@floww2953

Late, but in my opinion Gran Turismo does career better. It appears the same in concept to GT but it's not executed as well. The championships/events feel monotone and hardly have a theme like in GT (or it's too open of a theme) and after the couple beginning races they really start to drag on to about 10mins per race, and with kamikaze AI you have to have rewind on unless you're a masochist which makes stuff take even longer. AI flat out cheats in wet quali where they set laptimes that they barely run in the dry. On the plus side the bikes look great and physics are an improvement over Ride 4, the bikes are enjoyable to ride. Game's best if you just go to single race mode and set up your own race how you like it, because career gets boring halfway through.

Hmmm. We are very different players, that's for certain. Edit: I want to be clear as a kind of tl;dr; that I mean no offense or disrespect herein. I'm just legitimately confused by some of the things you (op) bring up. It is very possible that at your level of play you are seeing/feeling things in the game that I am not skilled enough to see or feel. I'm a very casual player. Ride 4 was fun for me, but I couldn't quite get it to feel right (for *me*). But Ride 5 just seems to work for me. I don't know whether I hit the assist settings just right (that I couldn't get right in 4), but I'm definitely enjoying it. I actually think you kind of alluded to it a bit in the beginning when you said something to the effect of it feeling subtly different. I was having the same conversation with a friend. I think it dampens some of your inputs VERY slightly so that if you aren't smooth, your bike doesn't jerk about. And imo that helps a LOT especially on a controller. You stated being very unimpressed, and it playing very similar to Ride 4 (which you like) and then turn around and lament it even "being released in this state." This genuinely confused me. You like 4. You say 5 plays like 4. And then you say 5 is trash (that last is MY interpretation of what you said). I'm objectively not sure what you're looking for. Also one very random thing - you called the Daytona layout weird or wonky or something like that. I have watched a lot of IMSA 24hr there and the track layout seemed right to me. I think there was one small sequence of turns that was mildly different, but in career the announcer made some reference to the "bike layout" which would explain (to me) that small difference. So legitimately curious what you see as wrong with the Daytona layout?

Right now I have Ride 2 and 3 and will probably wait for a good sale price on ride 5. I think you are handling the race as good as you can and since the AI bikes are aggressive and bump you around, I feel we have to pretty much do the same back to the AI bikes. Just kind of nudge them around to do your passes. I wonder what would happen if a real race biker would hit the back tire of another biker. Probably the outcome would not be too good. I am more of a SIM race car driver than a SIM biker, so I agree with managing a SIM bike around the track is a new learning curve. Glad they have more AI bikes to race against in Ride 5. I do these games just for a change of paste and entertainment. The only thing about all these "Ride" games is I wish they would give us all the bikes and tracks right at the very start. It is kind of ridiculous that we have to spend thousands of hours trying to unlock everything. Especially when I just do quick races and time trials. Not much in to doing Career mode in any games. Thanks for the video review. Take care.

Being someone who has both raced cars and motorcycles IRL I never had an issue jumping into most sims for cars. I gave Ride 4 about 5hrs of my time to just drop it. Gorgeous graphics but the game didn't leave me feeling like I was riding a motorcycle like a car game would. If anything it just frustrated me. For me it had nothing to do with the front and rear break feel or the throttle it was the way the bike leaned in. I can lean in SOOO MUCH faster IRL than in the game if I wanted or needed to. I guess what I'm saying is I couldn't get the bike to go where I wanted it to. I think games have a long way to go for motorcycles. Maybe its ok for people who don't ride IRL IDK. Just my opinion as someone with experience. I'm not the best Motorcycle rider. I am a very skilled driver and could hold my own against the best.

Love how smooth it looks in 1st person. I'm using the conventional Xbox controller and in 1st person it's much to hectic because you can't fully control the bike that smoothly...😞 Years ago Thrustmaster had a bike controller. Which they would do it again. Wheel maybe smoother but controlling a bike with a wheel seems even more weird than with a controller to me.

Yes ...when you replay a race in helmet or cockpit mode, it looks absolutely incredible and you just think 'i wish I could play the game like this' and not go off track every few seconds....

Why have you only showed one racing view, completely unreal. The track appears horizontal for 100% of the race and you are sitting upright in a chair also for 100% of the race. Bikes lean, the rider leans so if you are sitting upright then the horizon must lean to give a REAL perspective of what a bike does to get round a corner., the player can then then tilt his or her head to affect the lean feel. Putting a bike cockpit in front of you and swaying it from side to side does not make me feel like I am on a bike, simply a car sim with a bike front end stuck on. Was there a view where the horizon swings to simulate lean fully? I know it is not your game but trying to get information from milestone is harder than hitting a 2 iron.

Idk man I spent some time in ride and ride 2. In my memory the only decent moto game was mx v atv I've never played a road course game that hit the spot. Forza(not horizon) scratches the itch for cars but anything 2 wheeled always feels off. Please give me good news.

As someone who actually raced motorcycles.....Ride 4 controls was horrendous..not even close to realistic. I wish that it wetre better bc I really want to love it... Although that track selection looks fantastic with Infineon - Sears Point being my home

Looks great. This will help any car sim driver hugely in the importance of line setup… bikes really need to hit the fist point to make a good pass where as people think you can correct the car more later but this is all 10ths adding up.

Honestly i dont get this developper. Ride 4 isnt even 2 years old and already, they release this "new" game? Seems to me it's just another same sauce cash grab. They haven't even pushed ride 4...

I don't get how in Ride 5, you don't lowside if you slammed the brakes mid corner anymore. Unlike in Ride 4, where if you slam the brakes or open the throttle aggressively without any traction control you can lose the rear and lowside easily. In Ride 4, you must be very careful with your inputs but in Ride 5 it feels like I'm still playing with the easiest physics even when it's turned to the highest difficulty setting.

The physics on this game are terrible!!! I've been riding motorcycles for 56 years, and this is off.

I just downloarded this today and looking forward to playing it. About the AI, I'll see if I can spot what you mentioned about their lines and so on, but that said, your lines were a little eratic too. LOL

If your TZ suffers from brake fade it's time to change your brake fluid, pretty dark. Good review!

Looks like the gameplay is fun but the graphics are very lacking behind the current generation. If they manage to catch up, it'll be a blast.

I honestly don't think this game needs to exist, you may aswell just play moto gp. As far as actual bike choice goes its pretty sparce. There are so many more bikes out there that aren't sports bike that would be great to include in a game, and before i get shot down for saying that, its the same as having muscle cars or old roadsters in car games.

No open world, no buy. TT isle of man: ride on the edge 3 is the best motorcyle game ever and arguably the best race game ever - so i think, anyways.

The problem i have is that its totally unrealistic. You can get away with a controller or a steering wheel with car games and a joystick for flying but theres nothing that comes near to riding a real bike. Waste of money

the puff of smoke from the bikes Infront of you is completely normal because these bikes are 2 strokes ..they burn engine oil as they go . that's just the way they are.

Career mode is a bit boring, i liked it more in Ride 4, now it seems very linear… win this to unlock the next… 😴 don‘t know why they changed that 🤷♂️

Jiggly camera like a gopro on a helmet is not realistic. Your eyes don't vibrate like that. That's not the view you have in the seat.
