He literally makes me regress to age 12, when I was suddenly in the thick of a hormonal tsunami and I suddenly felt - oh how I ached with NEED for that obnoxious skater kid who snapped my bra every day the first month I wore one... And guys who had been my friends for, like, ever - I suddenly forgot how to talk - at all - when a select few were close to me. In my head, I'm saying, "Damn, Dan Auerbach writes songs that are almost as sinfully sexy as he is." What comes out of my mouth? "Daaaaaaaaahhh wwwhhhoooaaa sssssxxxxx eeeeeee oooohhhmmmhhhmmmm yeeeaaaasssss grrrrrrrr!" I'm 40 and jaded AF. But Dan, oh... I can't listen to or look at or conceptualize Dan Auerbach without throwing my brain out the window, speaking in tongues. I fail to understand anyone who does not agree with us... Clearly, they are wrong. My God, he isssss oooooohhhhhmmmm uuuhhrrrrrr aaaaahhhwwwwe...

I was curious about this, too - the first time I saw him I was like "his drum kit's small." Yeah... No. He's tall and I love watching him play. I have a question. WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE SAY HE CAN'T PLAY DRUMS? WHAT AM I MISSING OR NOT HEARING in his playing that makes people say that? I know a decent amount about music - I play piano, can read music, I can sing, harmonize, I get time signatures, and while I'm not the greatest dancer (but damn close, people!) I know when I'm off beat or struggling to keep it. In other words, forgive me, but I don't see it and I don't get it. What's the deal? Either POV is welcome. Thanks!

Taryn Morvillo honestly don’t get it either ?! also an aspiring musician me and his rhythm is great; but personally not a percussionist so maybe it’s like his posture or something since he’s so tall, but while it might not be traditional it still works for him so i don’t know how people could fault that
@elvin38
5 жыл бұрын
Taryn Morvillo I truly love the Black Keys but I have to say that Patrick is far away from the academic technique and timekeeping. He looks like a beginner who would have played a lot with the same buddy , but never studied the instrument for itself with metronome and as a result kept all the defects that music schools and hours of practice avoid. I studied the drums and play for more than 30 years, it makes me considering the approach of the instrument. Maybe their success and what I love is due to the absolute contrast that they show in a world of technical competition and super-skilled virtuosos or computerized music. They refer to the very human part of music.
