i like the black keys music. that being said, i went into a bit of a deep dive of they’re live performances and they actually suck so bad. like im not trying to be edgy, if you know anything about playing you can tell from a few clips their terrible. i dont even think they practice their instruments. it’s not to say what he’s saying isn’t true, but pat is probably the worst drummer of any band even close to their caliber. seriously guys watch some videos of their live performance. so long you watch some, i could easily tell you if you know the slightest thing about music based on your response after listening. i’ll still listen to their albums, but when it’s your only job, you’d imagine these guys would practice. i’m more drum oriented so maybe the guitarist isn’t bad, idk. but these guys don’t even mix their fucking music. like they must completely skip sound check, or the engineer is deaf, idk see for urself. i just found this out the other night but have been listening to them for years

I would understand this coming from their vocalist/guitarist, but the drummer of the black keys implying songwriters arent "real," or lack talent is a bit hypocritical. Of course if somebody enjoys what they do and others enjoy it thats great! But saying its not "real," out of jealousy when he really can't play his instrument the way a "professional," does to begin with is odd. Idk, people don't give metal the credence I wish they would nowadays but Im not gonna shit on a rapper or songwriter because of it.

Hey, people will consume what you put in front of them. Even better when it’s quality. The issue is that it’s easy to drop rap albums and songs after rap albums and songs. Streamings is about volume. Bro they showed them selves worthy of investing what there saying is the music labels are more willing to give a SoundCloud rapper a chance over actually bands because they don’t know how to quantify if their music is good and worth putting money into, and if they do put money into the actual bands they will act very sketchy and try to rip them off if they get successful this happens a lot with rock bands like Metallica who you mentioned
