Rapid weight loss for no apparent reason should always be investigated. I’m no medical professional, btw. I’m a breast cancer survivor. I’m writing to say that I’ve had heavy blood after bowel movements and several colonoscopies over twenty years, and each time the bleeding was due to hemorrhoids, not cancer. Of course you should check it further, as you are, but even a lot of blood in the bowl doesn’t mean it’s due to cancer. Wishing you all the best.

Bless your heart! I recently finished chemo and radiation for HPV-16+ base of the tongue cancer and all I can say is that throat cancer treatment is brutal. 3rd degree burns all around my neck with no taste or smell and still on a feeding tube after 6 months. The good news is that my last PET scan showed all clear a few months ago. Back in 2003 I had a colon preforation out of the blue which required emergency surgery. 2 feet of my colon was removed and I woke up with a colostomy bag on my side! Fortunatly, surgeons were able to reverse the procedure after about 8 months and reconnect everything. The bag ain't pleasant or pretty but it's much better than the alternative! Thanks for sharing your story, you are a trooper!

I hope you weren’t alone when you heard the news. I’m a 5 year colorectal cancer survivor. I was in my dressing room with dogs barking in the living room and my spouse on the phone for work. It was very surreal with my GI asking me if I needed someone to be there when he told me the news and of course I said just spill the beans doc. Your journey sounds very similar to mine. I had an 8 month ileostomy while the surgical site healed. You have a great medical team as did I. Stay strong cancer warrior princess and I wish all the best. I also had Xeloda with the same reasoning. I did have to have a port after surgery and it saved my veins. ☮️🙏🏻

A dr that I loved and that gave me great hope almost killed me.. I was in renal failure. But then a dr with a horrible bedside manor and delivery SAVED MY LIFE! If you rate your dr based on personality you are gambling with your health😢. Decision making should be logical not emotional. It's a tough spot to be in when you are deathly ill and great Dr's are hard to find.

I have NEVER heard a single thing about the gene mutation that makes your body hold onto that chemo! It doesn’t shock me at all if insurance companies don’t test for it, but it still disgusts me that they have no regard for human life. Even if it’s a small percentage, those are still human beings that, at the very least, deserve to know the gene exists and CAN be tested for, even if it won’t be covered. You never know what people are able to afford, or what they’re willing to do to get the money. Thank you for sharing 🫶

So what i am curious about is: You get the colon, they see a enlarge polyp. So they do some bloodwork and also a CT scan just to be sure. So what data was given that they said: Colon cancer. From my understanding the colonoscopy is the golden standard for a biopsy and than for pathology or a proctoscopy incase the polyp/hemorrhoids are to close to the anal sfincter.
