Sorry to hear the XR is gone, but certainly looking forward to your new content. I own a 2022 XR and find it to be the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden long distance. I put 3500 miles on it this summer over 10 days and never felt fatigued one day like I had on my previous long distance bike, 2016 R1200RS. After 3 days in the saddle on that bike, it was a struggle to make a 200 miles day. I did 500 miles on day 10 and felt great. It's worth noting, I did install highway pegs on my crash bars which do make an incredible difference.

Hey Steve. I also own a 2023 XR and would echo your comments that it is the most comfortable bike I've ever owned. Done 6000 miles since buying it in June, including nearly 700 miles in single day in France. Then yesterday, the Snowdonia 360, also in a day. And with the new 20mph speed limits in Wales, it was a long day. 😂

Hi, I'd be really interested to know what seat you have. I've only had my XR for a couple of cold wet months and it came with the low seat. I'm really tempted to swap with height not being an issue. Do you have the standard or variation?

I was looking into getting a new bike as well these past few months and also got a Triumph. I went for the Street Triple RS though which was exchanged for my 2018 MT09SP. The handling of the RS is amazing and it sounds just as good as the Yamaha did, maybe more bassy which is odd as it's a smaller engine but with a higher revline. Anyway happy for you with your new bike and there's added interest for me that we share the same brand now.

Took an XR out for a test ride, loved the ergonomics but very disappointing unless the revs were high, add in loads of vibes, not for me. So bought a 1250gs. Explorer? Really does not appeal and dont like the looks, though it does seem much improved over the earlier version. Each to their own. Its the GS suspension and torque thait just works so well on any road, at any speed.

@@thelikeablerider8800 I know there's differences in the markets but just for shits and giggles I've been on both UK configurators and from what I can find out there's not a massice difference between a Tiger Rallye Pro and the R1300 GS TE Rallye. Your bike is £18,655 here (including paint and TPMS) and the BM £19775 (including comfort pack so has the leccy screen and centre stand) The BM doesn't have the fancy lowering suspension ticked as it's seat height is 25mm lower anyway and if it was the BM seat would be lower and tge reduction would be automatic which the Tiger isn't so I left that out so I'm not sure where you've got €30k from?. You are fortunate that you have a duel dealer, it's something we don't have here so you likely got a better trade in on the XR as a result rather thanntrading it in a acTriumph only dealer here. I get you found it hard to get past that huge discount the dealer offered you on a 2023 spec bike they had in stock which I guess they needed to shift ahead of the new 2024 models due out in the next month or so, talk about right place right time 👍I would have too and there's likely to be very few deals being offered on the new R1300 as the converted will be queuing up in droves 🤣 I don't know how precious youvarr about your bikes but if you are you might want to consider putting some PPF (paint protection film) on the matt tank panels as one the mark up it's really noticible and impossible to get back to the original finish, luckily BMW replaced a panel under warranty for me on my 1250GS. As previous enjoy your new Trumpet 😉

@@mattmutane5502Just because the GS/GSA has been the best selling ADV bike for virtually the whole of the 10 year LC derivative lifespan in the UK apart IIRC for a brief period when the AT had no deposit and 0% finance and the GSA/GS so your suggestion many wouldn't consider one (assuming they then buy one of it's rivals) is therefore not correct as BMW sell more 1200/1250 GS/GSAs than all the opposition put together. I did say try, not buy-my rationale being at least try it then if you do buy something else you've done so knowing what the GS was like. As far as off road goes anyone wanting to do serious offroading wouldn't be buying either would they as most just don't have the level of skill required to handle a big 240kg ADV bike on anything other than very simple stuff, nor I suspect want to risk damaging their expensive pride and joy by dropping it in the middle of nowhere. At the end of the day people buy what suits their budget, needs and preferences and with most bikes being sold on PCPs all they're interested in money wise is how much a month is it, which is where most of BMW's sales come from - end of PCP, how much a month for the new one, where do I sign.....

About to head to my storage and disconnect and remove the battery. Sad to put her away for the season. The temp has dropped well below comfort levels in New York State. *Potential issue: the bike can stall out while slowing down in third gear and squeezing the clutch at times (or some combination of deceleration and clutching. Hopefully yours isn’t affected. Not a deal breaker as long as they get around to fixing the issue. Check the forums. *throttle can be a bit abrupt. Customize the mapping. The seat on the XR is Unbearable even for 1 hour. Has any of the Designers sat on that seat ever before releasing to the public? I am a BMW Fan, but some of the things they do is absolute Madness! If Multi is Ducati's best seller or Triumph is stealing market share or even Harley dares to go against the GS, I only blame Berlin's arrogance. They just get the suck up Influencers opinions, not the actual riders. And the Influencers lie for free trips. meals, etc..

You have to do what's right for you, comfort is so personal. I would agree, for me as well, with the new gen., seat issue but the M seat on my '23 XR M is much better than standard. I can ride about 3 times as long as I could on my '17 XR before I start to feel it. Enjoy the new bike, can't wait to see the build. Btw, wonderful area you are in. I've spent a lot of time around Dusseldorf and Duisburg and always wanted my bike with me when I was there. Enjoy! P.S.: You came back once before... ; )

I have a mate with an XR , its like sitting in a bucket! He complains obout numb bumb and hip cramps, shame because its a lovely bike, Bmw need to redesign the rear end and seat. Glad you bought a Trumpet, keep it British, i must admit though the new 1300 GS looks very nice. Enjoy the new ride fella.

I find myself going between the XR an the 1200 GT Pro often as a dedicated long distance tourer. The GT Pro seems like a great middle ground between offering some sporting capability when you come across a series of sweeping curves on tour, but providing the long distance comfort and shaft drive convenience for those long slogs on the open road. I’m itching to get your thoughts on the comparison between the two models as you live with your new Triumph for aa fair bit of mileage. How’s the low/mid range power between the bikes? I imagine the Tiger might feel a bit more engaging off the line?

That Teapotone fella has a lot to answer for, he’s turned you over to the dark side 😂😂 Sorry to see you let the XR go also, I don’t see the issue of comfort on long distance on my own XR, but I do agree about the not being able to move about when getting a bit of a lick on though. I ride track a lot and and it can be frustrating as I am very use to being able to use my body weight to corner and such, I reckon your just giving it all that in the video incase the wife is watching and that’s the excuse you’ve given for the new bike to her 😂😂😂 Best of luck with the new bike Shaun, will be very interesting to see what you make of it 👍🏻

I don't know the details of your GSA, but I bought my GS TE in March 2020 and have been offered an excellent trade in value against a new 1250RS as the new price of a GS has gone up a lot since then so if you have a good one you may be pleasantly surprised. If you change brand from my experience you won't be offered such a good trade in so it's all about cost to change, not the headline figure of the new bike. The other thing to consider is if you're buying the bike what the depreciation will be/GFV is if you're PCPing come swap time as what you think you might be gaining at purchase time may well mean you loose more when you come to change it.

It's not that I couldn't afford a GS, but it's ridiculous money for the R1300! It can't be so much better than the triumph to warrant spending, let's be realistic, 12 grand more!!!!!

You sneaky little girl, you kept that on the low down!! I've had my Rally Pro since may and put a little over 8000km on it. Its my third Tiger, I'm a bit of a Triumph guy I've also got a 2022 Scrambler 1200xe, and its by far the most comfortable bike I have ever owned, I can't see you needing to do anything with the seat as they are all day comfortable. Once its run in they are mind blowingly quick!! Only down side (maybe) is they are pegged at 200kph (they don't tell you that when you buy um!!).

@@thelikeablerider8800 They are unbelievably good off road, for their size, mine got very muddy even before its first service. Stock screen is a bit naff but one of them add on jobbies that clip to the top sorts that one out and you can only fit a very small tank bag (the SWMOTECH Pro micro one fits a treat) but thats ok with me as only need it for a few bits n boobs.
