Wow, love that the algos showed this to me this morning, watched just a few minutes but I think I’m rewinding back to the start and gonna watch the whole series! In the middle of the long winter training on snowshoe hikes dreaming of next summer’s hiking road trips 😃☀️

Such a beautiful section! Full of solitude and sadness. Wish the Bob never ended and the trail continued forever ❤

I don’t know how big that first print was but I think it was a cat not a bear. Bear prints have claw marks. Cat prints do not. I’ve seen both in the Bob.

Is it pretty typical for a Grizzly to not want anything to do with you and take off? Obviously, if you surprise a bear or come near it cubs, there might be a problem...

I think so. Of the three Grizzlies I encountered on the trail, 2 of them ended up dashing into the trees. The third recognized I was there but was super busy digging up roots and ignored me. The only other issue I've heard with Grizzlies is if they are defending a carcass in the area.

I'm a native of Wyoming. I'm old -age 69-and I was acquainted with someone who was killed and eaten by a grizzly. Still in my 30s I hiked in grizzly country in order to see grizzlies. What a stupid thing to do. No gun or pepper spray. We saw a kill at about a hundred yards away and backed up. There is a part of Yellowstone called the thoroughfare that I wouldn't even get out of my car during hunting season. (Near the Shoshone campground) as well as Kirwin Ghost town. I've seen locals get out in groups with multiple cans of pepper spray and nervously stay together in Kirwin.
