I make my Bobby Burns every Burns Night only slightly differently. I use the 2 oz Scotch, 3/4 oz sweet vermouth, and 1/2 oz Benedictine recipe and also utilize a lemon twist. But most importantly, I rinse the cocktail glass with absinthe before straining the drink. An atomizer filled with absinthe works best for this. It adds a whole other dimension to the drink and makes it more than just a Sweet Rob Roy with Benedictine. Try it sometime. Cheers!

The closest would probably be B&B. It's a blend of Bénédictine and Brandy, so it'll be a bit drier. Other liqueurs to consider would be Drambuie or Yellow Chartreuse (if you can find it). Not exact matches, but similar.

Cool Drink. Like them as well. Tastes Like Christmas to me when I change the drink just a Little. Orange! No Lemon. my version of a Bobby Burnes • 2 oz of a smooth Speyside Scotch ( Dewars 12 ) • 1 oz sweet vermouth • ¾ oz of Drambuie • Garnish with a twist of Orange. Can adjust the balance to suit your taste buds folks. But this more Orange based will make you look forward to the Holidays more! Try this for Xmas party themed adult gatherings. On Rocks or Up. Like how Anders uses a really well chilled glass. Put a little ice in your coupe before making the drink and that will help.

So I've finally gotten my hands on a bottle of Cocchi di Torino a while ago and have been trying it out in a number of cocktails now. And what I've found is that it is *very* sweet indeed. I love all of its cola and chocolate notes, as Anders has pointed out, but just find it a bit too sweet. Now, taking that in mind, I rejiggered the specs here to only 1/2 oz of the Cocchi, and I have to say the results (for me, and my tastes, at least) are magical. Suddenly one of my favorite scotch cocktails, maybe just favorite cocktails in general. Great stuff. Thank you.

You made a comment about the size of glass and planning accordingly. Is there a formula for how much water, by volume (or proportion), to expect from dilution? Your recipe was 3.5 oz booze for a 5.5oz glass. So...usually 2 oz water? Thank you for indulging my over-thinking...

That’s right. Most cocktails will end up being anywhere from 30-40% water after dilution. In this case, after about 30 seconds of stirring. The added water helps balance out the cocktail.
