Nick, This is my favorite knife in my collection. I have had no issues with durability or the quality of the build. It is a great gift knife. I have given 2 away so far and intend to gift them to more friends and family. THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW! I was afraid to take the knife apart prior to seeing the internal workings. : ) Thank you very much!!!

I grabbed this knife despite your somewhat lukewarm review, Nick, and I've loved it. I was very sad to hear that yours had some blade play; mine has none and has had none in a week of carry and light (as intended, I'd venture) use. The centering is also quite well done, but that could be the variability of QC. I did have the low grind, but that's a minor issue to me. Perhaps they've honed in the tolerances since you got your copy?

Alexander Aronson I absolutely lovee how this knife looks, I'm a big fan of the sleeker, thinner knives. it reminds me of the benchmade 42. Anyway, I'm thrown off of it simply because I've heard it's not an amazing flipper, and that sometimes it won't even open all the way. have you noticed that?

+Vztec v1 wow, it took me a long time to get back to you! So, here's an update: After a few months of daily carry, this knife shoots open every flick and falls shut consistently. A little oiling from the outside has kept 'er super smooth. However, just today I opened 'er up to do some cleaning and discovered not only different "guts" from nick's model, but a good deal of rust on the ball bearings, caged rather than loose in a track. Is it my own damn fault for using 3in1 from Walmart and not a proper knife oil? Probably. At the same time, even before being cleaned, this knife was flipping and closing like a dream, and I decided to clean her in the first place only because I do do a lot of food prep with this knife. The blade-banging-bar problem is also non-existent on my late-2016 purchased model. Ever end up getting one?

Ya figured out long ago never take advice or recommendations from a person who doesn't actually use the tool whats so ever. Like think about all his "reviews" hes has done over the years and how many of them has he ever talked about anything to do with use of the knife and how many of his "reviews" has talked about the looks how well it is for playing with how well it fits in your pocket and so on with thia type of stuff. Like have you ever seen any of his knives (personal long term knives) have any wear at all mainly the pocket clip.

I've had that urban trapper since it came out.. Very low number on it.. I've carried it daily for a couple years.. I have used it for sure the blade will stain.. Or maybe it was a acid reaction from cutting tomatoes and not cleaning it well.. .......?. But it was a gift from my brother and it's probably my favorite knife... No it wouldn't be my only knife if I could only choose one... But. The only other blade I carry when I don't carry it is the kershaw launch 6, but this is a super edc, it's long enough for slicing a good tie tomato.. The clip is perfect, after a couple solid years of use and just washing in the sink and stropping.. And that clip has never bent... It also (mine did) come with a tool also, I guess for taking it apart, I never have used it.. Deployment stays great forever after break in it doesn't change... It's like I said a perfect gentlemans edc, I've never once cut myself as you suspected.. My grind was a mirror Polish and perfectly centered... But like I said it was an early number,,,, the clip is small and thin but it seems to work better than most... I wonder if you just happened to get a bad one

you should check out one of these with the scales (if you're actually interested in a lighter-duty knife) ... titanium is always going to be flexible, the scales make a big difference. i've had the cocobolo-scaled version for a few weeks and it's a /great/ edc if you're not looking to pry things, with few of the flexibility issues you're seeing in the titanium frame.

I just got one today. Maybe it was the built of that knife in particular, but I didn't have any squeaking or any give in the horizontal or vertical movement. The tang does bend a bit cause it's so thin, but definitely not a hard use knife. It is a knife and not so much a tool, but I am satisfied.

Nick, This was interesting to me. Some good points made about this knife. I can totally see this being used as a steak knife. And growing up in texas (I'm in cali now though) it was not at all odd for people to bring a personal steak knife to a steak house. Infact I remember a couple of places that don't serve knives because they expect you to bring your own. But thats texas for you. The one thing that did concern me a bit is that flexing and clicking when you were bearing down on it. That seems a bit sketchy to me. Thanks again. Jess

This is a knife I ordered out of curiosity years ago. I was going through my knife collection the other day and pulled this out after really not messing with it at all when I first got it. It has become my favorite edc now. I don't have a need to cut down trees or fend off grizzly bears on an everyday basis so this little lightweight Boker is perfect for simple everyday needs when they come up. I just forgot how light is and as far as size and grip you're not going to use this for any heavy work so the size is just fine. I'd definitely recommend this if you're looking for something well built for the price. The one I have has no blade play and opens silky smooth. The only thing that's remotely negative about this knife is that since it's so light it kind of feels cheap. But a very good practical knife for everyday light work. A little correction about the blade play. Nick is right about this knife having a little vertical blade play. But I still hold my opinion that it's not a bad purchase.

I had no problems with the fit and finish on the one I had: the blade was properly centered, there were no burrs and the action was smooth. A good looking knife (I received plenty of complements from friends and co-workers) but I have to agree with you on the bad and ugly. There are too many sharp edges: the flipper tab digs into anything in your pocket, and the handles have edges that dig into your hand when wielding. The lock is not good enough: it slips under pressure, creaks even when using moderate force . I had it slip completely and close on my hand once, cutting me: this knife is for light work only. Closing can also be clumsy, as you point out. But the worst part I experienced was the clip: it's too soft and opens up with use, losing grip, and I had to repeatedly bend it back. And that was how I lost it, the lose clip caused it to fall out of my pocket one day without me noticing. Considering all the downsides, I decided not to replace it with another.

For those that want the Made in USA version, Brad Zinker makes them for around $600 in CPM154. He makes several variants, including a slightly heavier duty one. This is actually quite good as light duty EDC or a gentlemans knife and isn't really a display piece.

My brother got me one of the very first of these, early number.. It's still my favorite, I stopped carrying it after 2 solid years of edc I finally wanted to save it, the vg - 10 stains and in trying to remove stain with a jewelry polisher I've lost some of the original print on the blade,,, otherwise it's still one of my favorite edc blades... It works on any pants Nick.. Mine came with a mirror finish edge it was beautiful,. Mines never been off center or.. Man I it's a perfect edc, it's built well for its purpose. It's not a camping knife.. You must have got a used one that had been messed with,.. But I never carry my phone in pocket with my blade... It's titanium and vg-10 it's a gentlemans folder... Maybe the early ones were Better..

Interesting note: I was playing with mine (the knife, you perv 🤣) while watching and the flipper tab on mine is much shorter which helps with the pocket problem, but it makes it very difficult and uncomfortable to flip. I believe Boker is made in China. And we accept this, along w/ Spydie China series(Bird), and many other companies. One China knife is to me like another. I realize the upgrade companies make very nice knives in China, but I wish they would manufacture in America. I also realize the cost would more than double. Well crap!

+Randall Kelley Yeah, I hear you. Made in the USA with great quality and QC is a beautiful thing, worth paying for. But if you make it poorly in the US, I'm not paying a cent more!

Trust the materials, it's titanium with a chef steel..... You'd break the blade before you damaged it
