#Enoch introduces the tone of his writings from the very first chapter and verse by saying, "The word of the blessing of Enoch, how he blessed the elect and the righteous, who were to exist in the time of trouble." (1 Enoch 1:1) The "time of trouble" is an eschatological reference to the Day of the Lord - the most mentioned and alluded to day/event in the entirety of Scripture. Regarding much of what he was shown, Enoch goes on to say in the same chapter, "...that which will not take place in this generation, but in a generation which is to succeed at a distant period, on account of the elect. On their account I spoke and conversed with Him (YHWH)..." (1 Enoch 1:2-3) Have your interests been piqued?
If you are someone that believes we are within the timeframe that the Bible refers to as "the end of the age/days," then this book of prophecy/eschatology may be something for you to study, research and prayerfully consider. There are many (conflicting) scholarly opinions regarding the authenticity, historicity and canonicity of 1 Enoch. Ask the Father to guide you while listening and be the Berean you were called to be!
